Statistically, when charitable activity is considered, rightists are more generous as a percentage of earnings. The reason, is that the leftists are trying to bake this into the forced obligations of society. And nobody likes to be under forced obligation. There’s nobody to say thank you, no freedom to feel like you chose something good. In a way this could be seen as an expansion of his “nobody likes” argument.
Not only does the left want everyone to give to the poor, they don’t want anyone to reserve their charity for only those who deserve it.
In the Bible, we are to help the widows and the fatherless. Those who can work are supposed to work. But that’s not good enough for the Left. No one is supposed to ask why someone needs charity, just blindly share your wealth.
