Mini-Tweet storm from our President-Elect this morning. Looks like the focus is on uniting the country and showing appreciation for Never-Trumpers and MSM extending olive branches to him.
Our President-Elect seems to be in a magnanimous mood this morning. Looking forward to a week of great things as he puts together his Administration.
“I really like this man, but I do wish someone would convince him to give up the Twitter account.”
I agree, somewhat. Give it up until Dec. 19, when the Electors meet...after that nothing can stop him from taking office. But until then it remains possible (although very unlikely) for Electors, who are mostly GOPe, to turn on him. He needs to not give them any excuse.
Reagan did a good job on TV of appealing to the people to call and write their representatives in order to get his policies enacted.
My point is, Trump has to be very careful with what he tweets on the spur of the moment. He’s the President now. On the other hand, you are one of a few who seems to think he should just keep tweeting on....I’ll admit this. The man won the election. He must know what he’s doing. Peace my friend.
He wont forget and neither will we.
Definitely so earlier in the campaign. One can argue that some of those controversial tweets won over voters who saw that Trump was not going to be just another stuffed-shirt politician on puppet strings.
Since Kellyanne took over in August, the tweets seem to have been cleaned up considerably. Since the election, they've been even more tame. I have no problem with Trump's tweets being vetted by his staff to ensure that they are not unpresidential. But this is an invaluable tool that should be used to communicate directly with the people.
I believe our Founding Fathers would be absolutely thrilled with the social media tools available to us. Imagine if Paul Revere was able to tweet that the Redcoats were coming!
Perhaps he's cutting out the Media, replacing press conferences with Tweets. One can only hope.
Oh I disagree wholeheartedly. It gives him the power to bypass the press and go directly to the people, and totally unfiltered.
I noticed that the pundits are still sneering about Trump’s tweets. They don’t want him to have direct access to the general public. They insist on having a censorship capability.
He just doesn’t send tweets, with each one only taking a few seconds and they have to be short and sometimes requiring a chain, he has “tweet storms”. So says the pundits who have diarrhea of the mouth when in front of a television camera.
The electors are not going to do anything, trust me. If they think the riots going on now are bad they will have hell to contend with. We won’t carry it out like the children are doing it. It will have a real impact.
“The electors are not going to do anything, trust me.”
It’s one of those things...there is still a non-zero chance they might, particularly if Trump gives them a reason. But I’m sure that Trump knows all that, and will play it cool.
All the irrelevant begging at Donald’s feet to become relevant again.
We the voters rejected them.
Hail The Donald!
No way.
He must stay in front of the corrupt media. When they all resign and are replaced by real journalists, then his Twitter account can be retired.
Many reporters who object to Trump’s tweets are the same people who were fine with the CBS Dan Rathers 2004 attack on George W. Bush that nearly cost him the election.
Only problem is that very few people watch regular TV these days. Except shut-ins.
