FULL TITLE: Donald Trump Refuses Huge Salary, Will Make $1 as President. Won’t Take Frequent Vacations Like Obama
Donald Trump will be the third president in U.S. history to not accept a salary.
In an interview with “60 Minutes” on Sunday, the billionaire seemed to have no idea how much he would make as president, and when interviewer Lesley Stahl informed him it was $400,000, he said he’d pass.
“No, I’m not going to take the salary. I’m not taking it,” he said. “I think I have to by law take $1, so I’ll take $1 a year.”
John F. Kennedy gave his congressional and presidential salaries to charity, as did Herbert Hoover, who also gave some to augment the incomes of his members of staff.
Trump also pledged to pass on frequent vacations.

“There’s just so much to be done,” he said. “So I don’t think we’ll be very big on vacations, no.”
Chump change to him.

The media is already hounding Trump at every turn. They must not have learned from the election that nobody pays attention to them anymore.
Shoot, our local paper is middle of the road, but still uses those blankety-blank AP stories which almost invariably slam Trump for wanting to ban all Muslims from entering the US, even though he has NOT said that.
You know, a good start would be an immediate and very public reduction of the number of his staff...
Realistically, I think he should take the salary. It goes with the job.
Fair day’s wage for a fair day’s work, and all that.
I know he doesn’t need it, and I appreciate the thought and deed... but eh could always donate it to Wounded Warriors or Disabeld Veterans of America or other veteran’s groups.
But it shows a HUGE difference between him and the psychos - both the one he BEAT and the one he’s kicking out of office.
Trump got rich by his own efforts and hard work; Hussein and the Clinton Crime Syndicate got wealthy off of OUR backs.
Also goes back to a selling point in the election.
Trump never forcibly took a dime out of my pocket; He never passed a law restricting or trying to infringe on my rights.
He never did ANYTHING under the force of law detrimental to my well being.
The psychotic on the other side of the election can’t say the same thing.
If my memory serves me right only ONE other president has done this.
You know, I don't think Hilliary would have made that gesture of passing on receiving the $400K salary a year. Greedy people like her NEVER use their own money when someone else might pay and they sure don't pass up the money they are owed. I've known some wealthy people in my lifetime and the "new" ones (like the Clintons) hold onto their pocketbooks quite tightly.
TErm limits would help that...
Can’t wait to hear what he plans to do with the idiot mayors flaunting his sanctuary city rulings.
President Trump is an honest man and he’ll not run up big tabs at swanky foreign digs much unlike the usurper and his lovely wife.
We may have a very good president that will, indeed, drain the District of Corruption’s swamp.
