In a highly unusual move, President-elect Donald Trump on Tuesday night left his Manhattan residence without notifying the reporters covering him or giving any indication of where he was going.
The maneuver seemed to deliberately limit access to the media.
The only way the press eventually ascertained his whereabouts was after a Bloomberg reporter, who happened to be dining at the 21 Club, tweeted a photo of Trump and some of his transition team in the Midtown steakhouse.
Trump spokeswoman Hope Hicks later told NBC News. "He is having dinner with his family."

Better get used to it, buttercups. President Trump won even with every one of you unfairly attacking him continuously, so he’s proved he doesn’t need you.
Not only that, but ya’ll have all been continuously attacking him 24x7 since he was elected, so you’ve completely liberated him from giving a damn about what any of ya’ll have to say about him now. What are you gonna do, attack him even harder now?
If Trump needs to speak to us, he can do it through social media, and ya’ll are certainly welcome to report his tweets and such, but of course it will no longer be news.
Ya’ll brought this upon yourselves. Ya’ll thought President Trump would play by the old rules whereby he would be a good sport as ya’ll continuously attacked him, and he would just sit back and take it. Well, guess what? President Trump doesn’t play by the old rules. In fact, President Trump doesn’t play by anybody’s rules but his own.
So, no more rides by the enemedia on Air Force One, no more enemedia limos in his motorcades, and no more advance notices about anything he does. Well, maybe not exactly completely nothing. President Trump will tweet to us what he’s going to do and where he’s going to go, and ya’ll can read about it when we do.
Transparency is not about where they go for dinner, and press-access is not a 24/7 deal.

With his Tuesday night actions, the Trump Administration is shaping up to be the least accessible to the public and the press in modern history.
A week after the election, Trump hasn't yet held a press conference, the longest any recent president has waited to speak to the press. That continues a weeks-long drought that's been going on since mid-summer, when Trump last answered questions from the press.

Trump can continue to use twitter to address citizens as he did during the campaign.
President Trump will be able to use twitter to keep citizens updated concerning domestic policy, primarily warning about delays in holiday mail delivery (1.8.7), 24 hour a day.
