The Senate’s longest serving Republican is thinking about running for another term. Utah Sen. Orrin G. Hatch, a member of the Senate since 1977 and its president pro tempore, said after Wednesday’s leadership elections that he was getting significant pressure to seek an eighth term.

Hatch, 82, had previously said he would retire at the end of his current term, in two years time.

Please retire, Senator Hatch. You’ve done enough. Enjoy a few years of rest.

As Mark Levin would say, in his harshest
fishwife’ kind of voice “Times up. Get Off The Stage!!”

These people never go away. What kind of job is it that a ninety year old can still do it?

We darn well need term limits and AGE limits for congress and senate. 25 years after retirement age is darn well old enough to be done with elective office.

Sen. Hatch has been a reliable vote on the right side, sometimes, and a bit of an “issue” sometimes. He should give it up, sit on the porch and look at the view with his great-grandkids.

There’s a football saying for quarterbacks running the ball and it’s time to hit the ground or be killed: know when your journey is over.

From wikipedia: "In 1976, in his first run for public office, Hatch was elected to the United States Senate, defeating Democrat Frank Moss, a three-term incumbent. Among other issues, Hatch criticized Moss' 18-year tenure in the Senate, saying "What do you call a Senator who's served in office for 18 years? You call him home."[6] Hatch argued that many Senators, including Moss, had lost touch with their constituents."

It is time for this old senile codger to tak his own advice.

I can’t imagine what he thinks he would gain by another Senate term, vs. a comfortable and honored retirement.

Hatch is part of he ongoing coverup of Harry Reid bribe charges in Utah along with Mike Lee and AG Sean Reyes. There was supposed to be a grand Jury 6 months ago until Hatch and Lee stepped in. Trust me, I know this firsthand.

If he dies in office, he’ll get more press coverage, and his family will geta big monetary bonus from congress.

Yeah, I’m not feeling confident we’re going to get anybody solid out of Utah at this point.
