For many Americans, it feels as if the 2016 election split the country in two.
To visualize this, we took the election results and created two new imaginary nations by slicing the country along the sharp divide between Republican and Democratic Americas.

Oklahoma is mighty impressive. Not a smidge of Hillary pollution.
Lake Flagstaff... LOL! Should include Sedona Seaway.
The 2008 and 2012 elections split the country, but they won so they didn’t care.
This is why we must RETAIN the electoral college. Otherwise America would be run by those small enclaves of government dependent liberal and Marxists. This is exactly why TRUMP!
The Trump map looks a lot like the maps that the Glo-Bull Warming Zealots use to say what America will look like once the oceans rise and wipe out the coasts. Maybe Global Warming isn’t such a bad thing after all . . . .
Well it is and it isnt, yeah Trump won on “area” but if you adjust for population its about the same, probably slightly more for population. Those maps make it look like no one voted for Hellery, which they obviously did, nearly half of us.
I wonder if next run Trump will have gotten the silly mob thinkers in the cities, and i a certainly talking about people like the crowds i had to wade through in SoHo last sunday as well as the vast crowds of university students, along with ethnic crowds oh and millions less illegals.
I wonder if he’ll have won them over anf if so, what snark the Times will come up with. I wonder, too, if the Times will still be around. I doubt it. Ill miss the crossword puzzle
While we are all familiar with the county map that shows red dominating blue, it would be really interesting if someone would go even deeper and do a precinct level map. My guess is the blue would become practically invisible.
One is tempted to wish CALEXIT movement good luck. The USA would be a far better place without their corrupting influence.
A picture is worth a thousand words.... and a whole lot of votes. Hillary, America does not want you. You and Whoopie go away together.
It would be next to impossible for the a$$ wipes to change the electoral rule, thank God.
Proud to swim in the Great American Ocean!
Overlays showing high crime rates would closely match “Clinton country” and so would high rates of government dependency.
A nearly perfect “producers” vs “consumers” visualization in map form.
Despite the numerous Indian nations!
Spot on. There’s a correlation between dependence and illary’s vote.
Someone please tell the NYT writer: "Irrelevant".
If you take out the illegals that voted and count the absentee votes that may not have been counted, Hillary lost all the way around.
