Yes it can be, they can get a waiver from Congress. See this:

Carl Jung was on the Nazi payroll, he called Hitler a “demi-god”, he found himself doing forced automatic handwriting, and he hauntedly confessed that disembodied spiritual entities rang his doorbell at all hours of the day and night.

I’ll take what St Peter says about dreams over Jung any day!

I’ve learned a lot in the years I’ve been on FR. Who thinks it is a waste of time?

Not all items are a waste of time - the constant speculations of who trump may or may not have in his sights has mostly proven false until he actually announces his decision and we have a lot of "Snowflakes" who are obviously tired of winning already who tend to go bonkers that he's making a mistake or get into all the "what if this happens and because of it Trump ends up betraying us all" crap.

I've learned tons since I discovered FR (on 9-11) and a part of that learning is that just being on FR doesn't make one a rational conservative or just plain rational or just plain conservative.

Since we already know, and he has demonstrated, none of his choices/intentions are valid until they come from the horse's mouth, the speculative rumors have really served very little positive purpose.

Not my job to censor them but I feel justified in tossing my own opinion in when all that's being bandied about is pure opinion based on speculation.

Same way I usually encourage folks to actually get invested in the whole deal:

Donate to FR

as a way of showing they are serious....

LAura Ingrham tweeted last night that “Mattis would be a great Sec of Defense.” Since Laura appears to be front runner for the Press Sec position, I’m assuming she knows something.

He’d need some special dispensation to be SecDef, he only retired in ‘13 and to be SECDEF you have to be seven years out of uniform.

Also, the NeverTrumpers tried to make Mattis run for President, before settling on MacMuffin. He sounds like a Bushie?

Wonder what happened to him? All I recall is GOP wouldn’t help him recount his last election in FLA.

I think he’d be a bad choice. The only reasons to appoint him would be political. It might lessen the chance that he’d run for President in 2020, and it might peel some more people away from the Democrat party.

If Trump does a good job as President, Trump wins easily in 2020, and anything gained by appointing Webb would be unnecessary.

I hope President-elect Trump thinks of someone who isn’t a DIMocRAT. NEVER trust a DIMocRAT...NEVER.

Yes it can be, they can get a waiver from Congress.

Here is the law in question: 10 U.S. Code § 113

There is nothing in there about a congressional waiver. Congress would have to repeal the law in order for General Mattis to become Secretary of Defense. What do you think the chances of that are?

I think Mattis is mentioned in Nostradamus as well. How can we go wrong with that?
