THE Royal Navy has been allowed to shrink to a “dangerous and historic low” leaving it unable to combat global threats, MPs will warn today.
A Defence Select Committee report says Britain will one day be unable to defend its shores unless it increases its “pathetic” fleet of 19 frigates and destroyers.
Only 17 frigates are usable and the MoD is still negotiating on designs and contracts over the construction of replacement vessels

A Defence Select Committee report said the importance of the Royal Navy “must not be underestimated”.
It added: “The current number of frigates, destroyers and personnel inadequately reflects the potential threats and vulnerabilities facing the UK and its interests overseas.”

Obvious solution, spend more on welfare! Duh!
The scale of the UK’s untenable welfare state is so great that they must, in effect, surrender their armed forces to a military invasion that has yet to occur.
Of course, they are also dealing with another sort of invasion: the retrograde, murderous cult of Islam. But any large group will have a political gravitational field. As with Latinos in the States, leftists have alienated and oppressed their countrymen and have been rejected. Their revenge is nihilism and undermining sovereignty. Unfortunately, the Tories have mostly played along even in the aftermath of Brexit.

What do you mean invasion “yet to occur”....they have been over-run by muzloids whom they have let in and given welfare benefits to.
Glad I wasn't the only one thinking that. The answers to the article really should be written in stanzas:

And the few remaining surface vessels don’t pack much of a punch; the Royal Navy recently announced that its inventory of Harpoon anti-ship missiles has reached the end of their service life and will be retired in 2018. Replacements for the Harpoon should be available around 2028; until then, RN frigates and destroyers will have to rely on their 5-inch deck guns or anti-ship missiles launched from helicopters to attack surface targets outside of gun range. And the chopper-mounted missiles won’t be ready until 2020-2021 at the earliest.
In the interim, the RN will have to look for foes who want to re-fight the Battle of Jutland, pair their destroyers and frigates with US strike groups (which will retain an anti-ship missile capability), or pair them with the new Queen Elizabeth-class aircraft carriers, which can strike long-range targets with their embarked F-35s.
As I posted on another forum last week, here are RN surface engagement tactics, circa 2018:
1) Form battle line
2) Engage with main gun
3) Maneuver to suck enemy into CIWS range
4) Distribute small arms, cutlasses and prepare to board
Maybe they should sink their navy and make something useful...a reef.
The headline reflects the best of British wit, but the article is a horror story. The UK’s socialist governments have already put Mohammed in a boat with the captain’s daughter.
While not a laughing matter, this....I couldn’t help myself. Upon seeing the title I immediatly put it to the tune of “What do you do with a drunken sailor?”
Gonna check that out at home...it is a song somewhat best sang by drunken people!
