Republicans are vowing that President Trumps appointment of a Supreme Court Justice to replace the late Justice Scalia will be confirmed no matter what Democrats do. Politico reports the unspoken threat underlying the GOPs confidence is that, if necessary, they can end the Senate filibuster for confirmation:
Republicans wont come out and say it, but theres an implicit threat in their confidence: If Democrats play things the wrong way, they might find themselves on the wrong end of a legacy-defining change to Senate rules that scraps the chambers 60-vote threshold to confirm Supreme Court nominees.
Were going to confirm the presidents nominee one way or the other. And theres an easy way and theres a hard way, said Senate Majority Whip John Cornyn (R-Texas). They just need to accept that reality.
The Democrats will not succeed in filibustering a Supreme Court nominee, said Sen. Ted Cruz, Cornyns Texas colleague. We are going to confirm President Trumps conservative Supreme Court justices.

been a long time since I’ve seen Repubs even get a hint that they can play hardball when in power.
Not "deprived," STRIPPED of power. Even better, if that's possible.
Wait til Trump and his team are in place, these “hints” and “ifs” will be replaced by more manly terms.
Some how I doubt that the Republicans would try to ram any appointments through. It would be totally against their past actions where they just rolled over and played dead.
Maybe he can borrow Shrillary's. :o)
This gives them a lot of power..and they are going to use it.
It would only take two or three Republicans to vote against the rule change. I can think of more than that who aren’t likely to vote for the change.
Their image now should be the famous PHOENIX!
In 2011 “the” Harry Reid said after invoking the “nuclear option” that Am I 100 percent sure that Im right?” he asked. “No, but I feel pretty comfortable with what weve done. There has to be some end to the dilatory tactics.
Soooooo, hello gander, this goose....How you feel’n???
Btw, Mcconnell ..grow a pair..if Mccain and Graham threaten to derail..threaten right back you will throw them off committees
Maybe Trump’s Senate Spine Implant Procedure is having an effect.
