We’ll see.
Glenn Reynolds over at Instapundit suggests that it could function like a sword of Damacles:

And the beauty of it is that it just hangs there until needed. No need for any conspiratorial ideas.
BTW, I think Trump’s victory tour to swing states that he won might be part of the confirmation process. I’m not sure which dem senators are up in 2018, but it would not surprise me to see Trump go to some of those states and try to draw a big crowd. A few comments about the SC could then be rather influential without any open armtwisting.
She needs to “heal” before she is put into prison.
Before we get our community panties in a bunch, I would like to point out that we are talking about Donald Trump. Master strategist. Master at staying 2,3, maybe 4 steps ahead of adversaries including the media. This man will be like no other President we have ever had in our lifetime.
I think in his line of work over the years he has had to extrapolate outward to see all the angles in a project and then he would put in place what was needed to make something happen they way he wanted.
What’s his angle here? That’s the first thing that popped into my head when I heard this. Looked at some ideas that other Freepers threw out and realized that he is doing it again. Strategist, knows his opponent and their people. By saying this, he has put Obama in his place with no reason to pardon Hillary. In fact, Obama would look pretty bad trying to pardon her before he abdicates the throne for charges that had not yet been levied against her.
So, Trump goes into his administration with an unpardoned and unpardonable Hillary. The Attorney General is perfectly free by law to open up any investigation that he pleases and Trump can only throw up his hands and say “Rule of law.”
This is what I see through the lenses of Trump glasses. It’s going to be so amazing to watch him! What do all of you think?
I hope you're right... but I'm still very nervous about this. If Hillary's brazen disregard for the law goes unchecked, then it's a signal to the entire swamp that high government officials can continue to enjoy being corrupt without fear of consequences.
We had nothing to go on in the campaign other than his promises, and if he starts breaking them now he's going to lose much needed support which will make it harder to govern.
BUT - there’s the RICO case - re the Clinton Foundation — seems a more likely case to bring conviction - and then there’s plethora of evidence and videos - reportedly - on Huma’a laptops - re the child sex abuse ‘cartel’ invoking both Clintons and Huma -
So the ‘emails parts of it is the least - Not perusing on the emails doesn’t mean she gets off - just keep it quiet until in office and turn Sessions loose
The more I think about this the more it burns me up. It’s an insult to all of those who took him at his word.
I understand CJ and hope it’s right as well. I can’t say I’m not nervous.
But, he’s not a politician/lobbyist so, his approach is going to be quite unique.
So Trump will not seek it. Will he prevent it?”””
There is the REAL question.
Judicial Watch will keep on going after the Clinton Foundation-—they have worked too hard up to this point & have no reason to quit.
Jason Chaffetz might have a sit down with Trump & explain what they really have on Shrillary.
The new AG will take care of the Clinton trio.
Why? Read what was said, not the headline
...would be an extraordinary break with political and legal protocol, which holds that the Attorney General and FBI makes decisions on whether to conduct investigations and file charges, free of pressure from the president
That's completely appropriate. The FBI has two open investigations, it's up to them and Justice how they proceed.
And countless fighting soldiers and brass who were in the wrong for so much less and never enriched themselves, nor harmed American interests for money, whatever their security risk may have been.
It is disgusting and Trump will not let this stand, I don’t believe.
If Obama is stupid enough to believe that Trump is not going to pursue prosecution against Hillary, he’s less likely to stick his neck out, risking his legacy with a pardon.
Before he is even inaugurated?
In my universe, that would define what I know is impossible.
Out arrogancing Hillary!"
When Trump says heal is he possibly talking abut her physical health and not her post-election depression? Maybe Trump knows what is wrong with her???
I would wait for a quote from Trump before drawing a conclusion. If it turns out to be true then that would be bad for Trump and the GOP.
Yeppers. Eyes on the prize. We don’t want a pardon.
I can speculate. And what I see developing makes me laugh. ROFLMAO laughing. We’ll see.
Patience.
LOL. Yup. But it gets better if I’m reading the tea leaves correctly it’ll be epic.
