President-elect Donald Trump on Wednesday chose South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley to be the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations.
Haley was an outspoken Trump critic throughout much of his campaign, yet she's now poised to be the first female Cabinet-level official in the Trump administration.
"Governor Haley has a proven track record of bringing people together regardless of background or party affiliation to move critical policies forward for the betterment of her state and our country," Trump said in a statement. "She is also a proven dealmaker, and we look to be making plenty of deals. She will be a great leader representing us on the world stage."

Aren’t we forgetting something here, Trump has picked Haley for the job, but the article doesn’t say she accepted the appointment.
When Trump orders her to begin moving the UN out of NY we’ll see how effective she really is.
I don’t like her at all, she is a Cheap Labor Express Republican like Grahamnesty. But the UN position is not somewhere she can backstab from.
I don’t think UN ambassador is a spot that Trump sees a lot of need for, so she’s as good a pick as anyone I guess.
She gave a great many Southerners in South Carolina and elsewhere the back of her hand when she promoted removal of the Confederate flag from the soldier’s memorial.
She falsely connected the flag to the Charleston murders, exploiting that despicable act for political gain, and started a war on Confederate heritage that radiated out to other states and into retail companies that continues today.
One result is that the Confederate Memorial in Louisville, KY is being dismantled for removal this very day. Flags have been removed across the South. Other monuments that have stood for a century or longer are in the leftist PC crosshairs, thanks to Nikki Haley’s war.
She didn’t build any bonds with Southerners who honor their unique heritage and the sacrifices of their ancestors.
Yes. A total win win for Trump. Although the ideological purists on this board can’t discern a real concern from and imaginary one. War ofterntomes has taught us that a direct frontal assault is not the most effective means of victory. Most on here don’t underatand that. The UN Ambassadorship is an irrelevant position.
This was predicted by Scott Adams (Dilbert) here:
But Trump has a more solvable framing problem. Clintons team labelled him a racist, homophobic, sexist. Trump can violate that frame enough times to break it over time. But it will take a lot of cracks. Youve already seen several. Expect more to come.

Great move. McMaster, a Trump supporter from the very beginning, now becomes the new governor. And Hugh Leatherman becomes the Lt. Gov. The only way he can refuse is to resign. Either way SC will now have a chance to move forward without Leatherman’s interference.
She accepted. You don’t announce appointments publicly until the nominee accepts the offer. Common sense.
Agreed. Trump essentially got rid of her.
I agree
I fear he either wants to be accepted or is listening to his daughters woman stuff
He needs to rule
Screw diversity and outreach
It accomplishes nothing with the left or media
I sincerely hope so.
What bothers me is the Sihks came into existence in the 1400s and have 600 years experience with the Muslims; whereas the Christians have had 1400 years experience with the Muslims and for the most part the Christians remain naive to the Islamic threat. - Tom
I doubt that is going to happen.
I’m proud of the President-Elect’s choice. At least she would die for her guns and don’t at all sound like a globalist.
Confirmed with Team Trump. Purely strategic move to get her where she can’t do any damage and move Trumper into SC Gov office.
Well that is a not useful attitude.
Good one!!! Can’t stand that woman...
Thanks, LS!
