Damn, I just got weepy again. Three weeks, today, our Yorkie “Bella”, had an operation for a liver shunt. She didn’t make it. The sad part, it was her 2nd Birthday.
Come to find out, 30% of this breed has this condition. She was sick, from day one.
We are a mess around here. More tissues....
I’m so sorry about your Bella. Heart broken for you. Our yorkie Eiren will be 15 on Monday. We are trying our best to make sure she makes it. She’s been sick with pancreatitis. I refuse to give up on her. Her sister left us last year and I still cry over our loss. They steal your heart.

Yea, I know how you feel. We brought home a new Miniature Schnauzer over 11 years ago. After a few weeks he was going into closets and acting strange. The vet said he had liver shunts, and referred us to another vet who specialized in this type of disease. She tried to convince me not to go through the operation because 50% of the dogs die. And if it survives within another 48 hours another 25% die. We went through the operation and the little puppy survived. He is over 11 years old now. He has a leaky valve and has thyroid problems, but he is still hanging in there.
My last dog (1/2 Pappilion 1/2 long haired Dachshund...”Piglet”) died just over 4 yrs ago and I still miss her...so I can relate.
