President-elect Donald Trump on Friday named a libertarian election lawyer as his White House counsel and a hard-line former Reagan administration official to a top post on his national security staff.

Trump announced that Donald McGahn, a controversial former member of the Federal Election Commission who had served as Trump's campaign lawyer, will be his White House counsel.

(snip)

For deputy national security adviser, Trump chose Kathleen "KT" McFarland, who in her most recent role as a Fox News analyst has expressed strident opposition to many of President Obama's national security policies.

Methinks you need do some research”

McFarland’s government career began while she was a freshman at George Washington University, working part-time in the White House Situation Room typing the President’s Daily Brief. She spent seven years in the West Wing of the White House, working her way up to become a member of Henry Kissinger’s National Security Council Staff. After the Ford Administration, McFarland studied at Oxford University (BA, MA) in Politics, Philosophy and Economics, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology with concentrations on nuclear weapons, China, and the Soviet Union. She served as the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Public Affairs under President Ronald Reagan from 1982 to 1985, and senior speechwriter to and principal deputy assistant secretary of defense Pentagon spokesman under Secretary of Defense Caspar Weinberger.

In 1985, she received the Defense Department’s highest civilian award, the Defense Distinguished Service Medal.

Read her bio. She is a commentator due to her foreign policy experience. Served during Reagan administration.

>>>a controversial former member of the Federal Election Commission<<<

In what way was he “controversial”? He disagreed with the Liberals on the FEC?

On Fox, she usually seems highly skeptical of all the Bush foreign adventure/nation-building stuff.

Yet according to the MSM Clinton and Obama never once managed to appoint someone “far left.” In fact no one appears to have ever been described as “far left” by the MSM. The far left has apparently been completely abolished in the modern era.

40 years and she still can’t get above “assistant” or “deputy.” #GlassCeiling?

I see on her Twitter she spent the last 2 weeks retweeting people requesting that the Trump administration hire her for a position...SOS, SecDef, UN Ambassador, etc. She lobbied hard for this.

Actually, she used to be in the Nixon, Ford, and Reagan Administrations.

In other words, a lifelong swamp dweller! 100%

From what I’ve seen of her, McFarland is a pure Reaganite in every way. She is not PC at all and often points out the dangers of Islamic terrorism. She’s got as sharp and clear a mind as anybody on international issues. This is not one of Fox’s bubbleheaded bobbleheads. She has said she sees Trump’s foreign policy as identical to Reagan’s, peace through strength, neither hawkish nor isolationist.

Not many of Reagan’s people qualify as being in the “swamp.” She also lost the endorsement of the GOPe in the NY Senate primary in 2006 when they endorsed someone else.

There can no more ‘monkey business’ in the Middle East like there’s been for the past 15 plus years with Saudi interests and Qatari interests foremost meaning no real solution to the terrorism since Saudis and Qataris fund it.

Bush genuflected to Saudi-Gulf Arab interests by waging the war in Iraq instead on them.

When the terrorist base was invaded in Afghanistan, their leader Bin-Laden found a safe haven in Pakistan, another terrorist creating nation responsible for the Taliban that gave Bin-Laden haven in Afghanistan.

And then this “Arab Spring” insanity of the Obama years bookmarked by an attempt to overthrow Iran’s government and a successful operation to overthrow Ukraine’s government leading to Russia’s seizure of Crimea, the Syrian intervention etc. etc.

According to the MSM, all Trump's appointees will either "hard line" or "far right".

But not enough for #nevertrumpers...even though they had no problem with RINO Romney

Did she give him a huge boost? I thought she was imitating Jody Foster during the Academy Awards two years ago, like she was trying not to say what she was saying.
