The Washington Democratic Party is doing some soul searching, after an election that went far better for them than their national counterparts but was still disappointing to some party members.
As the national Democratic Party considers its path forward in the wake of a disastrous election, the Washington Democratic Party is doing the same, following an election that was far better than the national partys, but not a smashing success either.
Nationally, Democrats will be out of power in the House, the Senate and the presidency for the first time since 2006.
In Washington, one of the countrys bluer states, Democrats held the governors office, U.S. Senate seat and most other statewide offices and supported successful ballot initiatives to raise the minimum wage and make it easier to bar potentially dangerous people from getting guns.
But they didnt take back control of the state Senate, as theyd hoped to do, and didnt build on their razor-thin majority in the state House.
In county races, Democrats lost seats in Western Washington counties they would be expected to control Pierce, Thurston and Grays Harbor. And they remain all-but-shutout east of the Cascade Mountains.

Every thing is fine. We didn't lose anything important. The majority of the people love us and support us.
I might add that even in counties in the East where the Democrats used to have a large footprint, because of the Democrat policies not benefitting those counties there has been a sea-change.
Is a Democrat soul searching like bigfoot hunting? They are sure there is something there, but they keep on coming back with zero evidence.
Go hard left...communist, in fact.
And get a hardcore, anti-Semitic Muslim to lead you there.
Heh, heh. The path “forward”. I see what you did there, Seattle Times.
Doomed to wander crying in the wilderness....
“Search and rescue” of stranded Democrats may soon become merely a recovery action. I hope they used a Sharpie to write their Social Security number on several places on their bodies, so they may be more easily identified when found.
I can remember when you could get a fairly balanced POV from the times. The PI was always reliably hard-left. Now they’re both unworthy of even birdcage liners.
Ponder? I think they mean “plotting”
Maybe there won’t be so many communist votes in Seattle if they can be defunded for being a sanctuary city.
And isn't it curious that those two counties are the most wealthy and employed too? So much for the party of the "working man" !!
That's like calling the Titanic's maiden voyage a "disappointing travel experience."
Here's a pic of a statue of Lenin that stands in an area in Seattle known as Pioneer Square that's been there since at least the 1990s.
I live in Seattle so I have seen the statue of Lenin.
It is in the Fremont District of Seattle which has always been libtard. When I was at the University of Washington where we had sort of a soft brand of hippies, the hardcore heavy drug users were all in the Fremont District, which is about four miles from the University District.
Somehow the Fremont groupthink has pervaded the rest of Seattle.

I disagree. In 2006, the RINO rubber-stampers of Democrat policies were in charge. (If they were real conservatives, they would have gotten SOMETHING done.) So the Democrat party was out of power in name only.
Maybe they aren’t shoving their leftist agenda down our throats with enough vigor.
While it is unclear what shape any action will take, Yakima City Councilwoman Carmen Mendez feels inspired to make Yakima a safe place for residents living in fear about a new president.
Mendez and Councilwoman Dulce Gutierrez represented Yakima at the New American Leaders Project conference in Washington, D.C., last week and came home with new ideas for problems such as homelessness and bullying.
The most important takeaway for Mendez, however, was how to respond to residents in light of an election that left many fearful.
Ah. So you can verify that this has been the case since before the Sanctuary City was a glimmer in a Libturd’s eye.
