Wisconsin Recount Filed 2016: 5 Fast Facts You Need to Know

A recount of the 2016 presidential election results in battleground Wisconsin will start next week, adding new drama to an already contentious election filled with surprise twists.

The recount comes after a group of professors and lawyers raised concerns about the possibility of hacking. Donald Trump decried the recount as a “scam” in a statement on November 26.

The Wisconsin Election Commission “is preparing to move forward with a statewide recount of votes for President of the United States,” Administrator Michael Haas announced in a written statement on November 25.

The recount was requested by the Green Party after its nominee, Jill Stein, raised more than $5.4 million in just over one day to fund recounts in Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania, all states that were surprise upsets for Donald Trump and which he won by fairly small margins.

If that is the case and Trump would still be President, then this whole exercise of denying these states electors to vote is nothing more than mass mental masterbation by the Rats.

This would be a political windfall for Trump and his republican allies. Can you imagine the campaign ads in 2018? Democrats will disenfranchise you. Vote republican.

You are correct, Hebrew

The final result, if the count isn’t finished by the constitutional clock time of Dec 13th, will be Trump wins. As happened when the high court stopped the counting in 2000

The court did not toss the states electors out and force the vote to the House to pick a winner. Nor did the court force one candidate to win the simple 50% majority of what electors were left to become the president.

The Court ended the count and gave the state to GW, and thus the Presidency was determined by the constitutional clock. Which in 2000 was Dec 12, and this time Dec 13th.

Now, the reason for this recount for Stein and Clinton, is to try and drag this on in the hopes of forcing the courts to again stop the votes in Wisc, Mich, and Penn and thus allow Trump to win as he has.

However the left will then claim he won because the Courts again stole it as they claim happened in 2000.

Poor education will then help them convince the majority that it was the courts, not the majority vote, not the electoral college, and not the constitutional clock that made Trump the president.

It is all that remains for them to keep their base angry and thus try and use it to win seats in 2018 election and for them hopefully to win in 2020.

It will be GWs presidency all over again. It won’t work because trump id nit GW, but it is all they have.

I read that she didn’t call them off, the police and fire officials called them off.

And who would be the candidate with 247?

And who would be the candidate with 247

Trump would have 260. HRC would have 232. Trump wins.

My advice to Scott Walker:

Make double sure that any checks given to the state to pay for this recount have CLEARED before you start anything.

Shrillary has a reputation for not paying outstanding account payable after campaigns are over. Stein is the surrogate for Clinton in this action.

If WI, PA, and MI are unable to appoint electors due to this nonsense then the number of appointed electors is not 538. It would be 492. A majority in this scenario would be 247.”’

Good Point Thanks for pointing that out.

If WI doesn’t finish, the EV votes for that state are voided. Trump would lose those EV. Yes the 270 matters. If any candidate goes below the 270 it goes to the House for a vote; each state gets 1 vote.

No, not about flipping; it’s about not meeting the Fed deadline of 12/13 for any recounts. If they fail to meet deadline, the EV get voided for any state that fails to meet deadline. They want to force the vote to go to House of Reps for a vote.

You are incorrect. The constitution specifies the winner of the EC carries the majority of EC votes. 270 is not mentioned in the constitution anywhere.

If WI fails to appoint electors then there are no longer 538 electors. There are 528. A majority would be 265. Not 270.

It seems to me their recount strategy could backfire if the votes cast by the people in those states are not considered. They may vote Republican for years to come after having the other two parties nullify their votes.

Wrong - see Election College. Stage 3 - Bargaining

The Twelfth Amendment (Amendment XII) to the United States Constitution provides the procedure for electing the President and Vice President. It replaced the procedure provided in Article II, Section 1, Clause 3, by which the Electoral College originally functioned. Problems with the original procedure arose in the elections of 1796 and 1800. The Twelfth Amendment refined the process whereby a President and a Vice President are elected by the Electoral College. The amendment was proposed by the Congress on December 9, 1803, and was ratified by the requisite three-fourths of state legislatures on June 15, 1804.

Yes, I can see that happening. The crazy left wing fascists are playing with fire. Also, Stein’s motivation for the recount is not valid. She is a puppet in this matter.

Makes Green Party Party of Democrat party.

It will end. Remember Gore v Bush? We were traveling and we entered one country to be sneered at by the Customs officials? “Who is your President?” We shrugged and told him the USA would continue on no matter who won.

You didn't reference it in your lengthy reply to me, but it seems there are others who share your sensible view, e.g., "The Democrats' real strategy in launching recounts."

The problem here is even if they voted, since it is an anonymous ballot, you have no paper or computer record saying WHO they voted for. A crafty lawyer can argue that they might as well had voted for Trump. Unless you get a confession from someone that they illegally voted for a candidate, all you could prove is that they voted illegally.

This is WHY election reform is so important, as well as cracking down on illegals and removing them from this country.

Trump got a lot of votes because a majority of Americans believe this.

Still, back to the OP’s post, despite all these expensive recount shenanigans, I believe Trump will be President on the 21st of January, 2017.

Yes, I noticed it later after i wrote my response to you.

Makes me feel good that there are others who know the law and the precedence set by the high court in 2000.

Wisconsin would have been certified the Friday after the election on Nov. 8.
