Hillary Clinton would have to win a clean sweep of recounts in Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania in order to overturn the election, and even her team concedes flipping one state is unlikely.
Nevertheless, the Clinton campaign is officially contesting the outcome of the 2016 presidential election. There is no other way to describe joining Green Party candidate Jill Stein’s effort to get recounts in the three states.
After the third presidential debate when Trump indicated he might not accept the outcome, Clinton said, “that is a direct threat to our democracy.” That’s when she thought she would win. Clinton is seemingly a passive participant in the recount effort, but after her attacks on Trump, she couldn’t exactly go all in. That doesn’t mean Stein is a stalking horse for Clinton, but this certainly allows the former secretary of state to challenge the outcome without appearing to threaten democracy.
Clinton campaign lawyer Marc Elias said in a post on Medium, “now that a recount has been initiated in Wisconsin, we intend to participate in order to ensure the process proceeds in a manner that is fair to all sides. If Jill Stein follows through as she has promised and pursues recounts in Pennsylvania and Michigan, we will take the same approach in those states as well.”
Or, translated: Not our idea, just along for the ride. But if it makes Hillary president, bonus.
It would have to be all or nothing for Hillary to become the first woman president. If just two states flip to Clinton, Trump still wins. For instance, suppose the two most populous states switch and Hillary wins Pennsylvania’s 20 electoral votes and Michigan’s 16, that would bring her to just 266 and Trump down to exactly 270.

Occam’s Razor - the Democrats can’t afford to lose any more of their left wing to the Greens, so they have to jump on board this recount train - even though the marginally wiser heads among them know it is a fool’s errand. When it fails, they can at least say: “We fought hard for you - but that evil Trump had already stolen everything.” And Soros is paying for it, so why not?

They have been trying to dis-credit Trump since Day-1 of his campaign, as deep down they know that he has the ideas and guts to actually MAGA and then they, including the GOPe’s world had changed forever and the old Status Quo is no longer an ‘electable’ solution, thus ending the Politician’s gravy train.

I suspect after President Trump is sworn in all the olive branches he was holding out to the Clintons of not investigating them will be rescinded. We’ll probably see Hillary hiding in the Cuban embassy seeking asylum.
We’re making a rather large assumption. Are we sure that the GOPes in Congress would properly give the election to Trump?
Each state Congressional delegation would get one vote in the House. I think 32 House delegations are controlled by the GOP. Which seven states with majority GOP Congressman would refuse to support Trump?
The Trump leads in WI, MI and PA are just too large to be overturned in a recount. I'm even skeptical about a recount working in NH and the lead there is under 3,000.
This whole protest stuff, the media, etc. is basically about legitimizing non-acceptance of the truth, and of facts. Anything that does not comport to their view is now "fake" since it doesn't fit their reality and cannot be assimilated by their logic processes.
We are seeing a widespread call to jihad on reality. Amanpour put it exactly in those terms too when she declared media jihad on Trump and his supporters. "Anything goes" as long as it destroys a part of the reality that they refuse to accept.
And so it is with the justification of these recounts. It is jihad against reality. It is truly an open civil war of sorts.
