Wisconsin Denies Request For Recount By Hand As Stein Threatens To Sue
Zero Hedge ^ | 11/28/2016

Posted on 11/28/2016 12:32:12 PM PST by SeekAndFind

Finally, a voice of reason emerges in Wisconsin to combat Jill Stein's useless recount crusade.  According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Wisconsin Elections Commission Chairman, Mark Thomsen, who happens to be Democrat, announced earlier that the committee would follow through with Stein's recount request but denied a request that the recount be conducted by hand.  Thomsen cited a 2011 recount that changed the overall vote margin by 300 votes as evidence that the current recount would overturn Trump's 22,177 vote lead in the state.

Citing the results of a 2011 statewide recount that changed only 300 votes, Elections Commission chairman Mark Thomsen, a Democrat, said this presidential recount is very unlikely to change Republican Donald Trump's win in the state.

"It may not be 22,177," said Thomsen, referring to Trump's win over Democrat Hillary Clinton in the vote count. "But I don’t doubt that the president-elect is going to win that."

Thomsen dismissed Stein's claims of problems with the vote as unfounded and misleading. But he directed his toughest criticism to Trump's unsupported allegations that millions of people voted illegally nationwide, calling them "an insult to the people that run our elections."

Under the plan adopted Monday, the recount would begin Thursday and could cost $1 million.  Of course, we assume that Stein didn't factor in the incremental costs associated with suing states that call her out for her ridiculous recount efforts.  As such, she may need to raise some more money just as the flow of funds seem to have slowed to a trickle...we suspect Hillary supporters have finally caught on to the scam.

JS

Here is the official timeline for the recount per the Wisconsin Election Commission:

Monday, cost estimates and vote tabulation method will be provided by county clerks to the commission by noon. Commission officials will provide estimated statewide costs to the campaigns of both Stein and De La Fuente by the end of the day.

Tuesday, the Stein, De La Fuente or both must pay for the recount. Once full payment is received, the commission will issue a recount order to all presidential candidates.

Wednesday, commission staff will hold a teleconference in the morning for all county clerks and canvass members to outline the process and rules of a recount. Since a 24-hour public meeting notice is required for the recount, each county must post its notice by Wednesday.

Thursday, recount begins in every Wisconsin county.

Dec. 12, all county canvass boards must be completed by 8 p.m.

Dec. 13, Elections Commission staff will prepare the official recount canvass certification by 3 p.m.

Meanwhile, this may all be a "best case scenario" for Stein who would get to pocket the $6.3mm raised so far if recount efforts are denied and she decides to walk away.

Stein withdrew the recount request in Pennsylvania, and Michigan certified their votes.

Other threads are unclear on both those claims. Can you post something authorative WRT both claims?

I can only hope both are true.

The threads I read say Mich should certify at 2 PM today and the the Pennsylvania link source didn't say she dropped her request.

"an insult to the people that run our elections."

The people that run our elections, aren't all crooked, but there are, without a doubt, some that are crooked. That's how democrats have won elections that they would have lost otherwise.

And, California elections is full of crookedness. And, somebody needs to do something about the dead waking up on voting days, only to go cast their votes. And, who is going to deny that there are illegals voting? Only democrats would deny that, because they would lose millions of votes otherwise.

I GET IT!!!! Trump countered nonsense and fantasy (Russia hacked) with a whooping dose of unproven but plausible conjecture. In other words if you hit Trump he will hit back but far harder than you could ever imagine.

Recount 3 states? Trump may have you looking at all of them. Recount three states that have fairly good voter laws? Trump will be looking at the dark recesses of ComCali.

He raised saw ‘em and then raised the stakes far higher than they could cope with. Even the Dem in Wisconsin could see where this would lead.

Personally I think it’s good that Democrats are giving their
political contributions to the Green Party.

There was a thread on FR early in this process from a liberal source. The original news source was written by a Hillary supporter who said that they would like the result changed, but did not think that a recount approach would be fruitful or helpful. Instead, they suggested that Stein was just fleecing Democrats for funds. Their evidence was a statement on Stein’s funding page that said the funds might not be used for recount costs.

Based on that speculation, I posit that Stein intended to engage in a few low cost recounts and pocket the rest of the money. It would certainly explain her exasperation with Hillary’s campaign joining the recount effort.

I think that Hillary’s campaign saw the appeal for funds as money grabbing and decided to cut off Stein at the knees. First, the addition of Hillary to the recount request would give the request legal “standing”. Second, the Pennsylvania recount request had to be submitted to a court. Hillary’s people might have kept Stein from submitting a “weak” court document designed to fail. A successful court bid in PA would have meant fewer funds left over.

Now, if Stein has dropped the effort in PA, as reported, that further supports the above conjecture that Stein was trying to get either denied, thus expending no funds, or get a low-cost machine recount after pulling in lots of money.

Three weeks after an election, not one state could prove their computers/ballots have been protected from tampering for 24/7 by both Republicans and Democrats. And why should they for pete’s sake? Therefore, can anyone tell me why any state would even consider such a farce.

The ballots/computers would have to be locked up with both party’s guards 24/7 day after day. What state is going to pay for that?

I can tell you for sure, if anyone came down here to TX at this late date demanding a recount and got 30,000 votes, They would be escorted to the nearest border amidst great laughter.

"I observe that he DID NOT DENY the allegations."

He (commisioner Thomsen) may be able to speak for Wisconsin, but I'm pretty sure he has no clue whether California (for instance) has significant voter fraud.

She’s ticked that she has to refund the money?

Maybe she can take the cash to New Hampshire, and recount that?

Wisconsin has very firm conservative majority Supreme Court, let her sue.

A good reminder to any lingering NeverTrumpers that control of the courts is not something to let go of lightly.

The threads I read say Mich should certify at 2 PM today and the the Pennsylvania link source didn't say she dropped her request.

The following was reported by the Washington Examiner...

Stein missed Pennsylvania's deadline to file for a voter-initiated recount. That blown deadline is a huge blow for Democrats who have pinned their hopes on recounts in the Keystone State, Michigan and Wisconsin.

"According to Wanda Murren, spokeswoman for the Pennsylvania Department of State," the Philadelphia Inquirer reported Monday, "the deadline for a voter-initiated recount was Monday, Nov. 21."

I don't know about Michigan.

What exactly do your people do to prevent illegal immigrants from voting?

Here in PA, all they need to do is check a box that says they are a citizen when registering to vote. No one ever checks to see if that is true, nor are they even allowed to ask for any proof. Therefore, non-citizens are essentially allowed to vote.
