“The IDF is determined to maintain the safety in region and will defend its civilians when necessary against terror,” the IDF stated.
Israel Air Force (IAF) aircraft attacked an installation used by the Islamic State (ISIS) terror organization in southern Syria on Sunday night in response to an attack by an ISIS-affiliate on IDF soldiers earlier in the day.
The IDF announced that the IAF “successfully targeted an ISIS base of operations in the Syrian Golan located in an abandoned UN compound.”
IDF spokesman Lt. Col. Peter Lerner stated that the compound was the base for Sunday’s attack against IDF forces. “The strike will prevent the terrorists from returning to the staging point,” he stated.
Earlier on Sunday, terrorists, members of the Shuhada al-Yarmouk ISIS affiliate, opened fire and launched mortar shells at a Golani reconnaissance unit in the southern Golan Heights. The terrorists and IDF soldiers exchanged fire. The IAF was alerted to the location and successfully targeted the terror cell, killing four ISIS terrorists.
No injuries were sustained by IDF forces.
“This attack is a blatant breach of Israeli sovereignty. The IDF is determined to maintain the safety in region and will defend its civilians when necessary against terror,” stated Lerner after the attack.
The IDF estimates that the attack was not planned and that the terror cell decided to attack the IDF unit only after spotting them. The IDF further estimates that this was an isolated incident which will not develop into a broader conflagration.
The IDF has prepared for a possible terror attack by ISIS in the Golan, and maintains a high level of alertness on its northern border.
The Syrian terror group Shuhada al-Yarmouk, which operates in the Southern Syrian Golan Heights on Israel’s border, joined forces with ISIS, significantly heightening ISIS’ presence on Israel’s border.

This might be a bad thing.
Remember, everybody hates the Jews - this could turn all of the factions in Syria against Israel.
That wouldn’t be a problem since Israel can take them - but it could cascade from there into another Arab-Israeli War which is a little more iffy.
Actually that’s a good thing, since Prophetically speaking the next major Middle East War will actually see Damascus wiped off the map, along with most of Israel’s neighbors.
No nation this late in the game can touch Israel and expect to get away with it.
