Why Trump is courting Romney for the State Department
American Thinker ^ | 11/29/2016 | Thomas Lifson

All the brouhaha over the alleged rifts within the Trump transition over Mitt Romney misses the point. I think it is theatre, a distraction by the same man who was able to direct media attention where he wanted it all throughout the campaign. Donald Trump has a plan that eludes his critics, who can’t help thinking about politics the way it has always been played, and still do not grasp his thinking nor the range of new tools he brings to the presidency. The Department of State is badly broken and desperately needs to be fixed. State requires fundamental restructuring as well

I think Trump likes the idea of being Mitt’s boss.

FIRST ORDER OF BUSINESS AT STATE: turn off the tap on the "Millenium Challenge Corp" slush fund. Literally billions of US dollars are floated around the ME & Africa with no budget line item appropriated by congress. BILLIONS. (hat tip thinden).

================================================

CLINTON CRONY SID BLUMENTHAL SHOULD BE GETTING HIGH LEVEL L/E SCRUTINY. Longtime Clinton fixer, Sid Blumenthal was the conniving Clintons' bagman---a $325,000 employee of the Clinton Foundation (paid to advance Clinton's presidential (gag) legacy, he had numerous paid side interests----promoting any number of foreign deals and schemes in which he had a financial interest.....many of which were predicated on the toppling of Libya's Khadaffi.

Blumenthal was ambidextrous---chronically emailing Hillary Libya foreign policy messages w/ one hand....his other hand firmly in the State Dept cookie jar.

In one confidential e-mail to Clinton, Blumenthal was clearly colluding w/ onetime Amb Joe Wilson (Valerie Plame's hubby) to help himself to the tax dollars in the State Dept cookie jar.

==============================================

BACKSTORY Secy Hillary's aide at the State Dept, Cheryl Mills, a govt employee, found time to run a side business.....the "BlackIvy Group," a consulting firm and property developer in Sub-Saharan Africa. Cheryl is (cough) "developing" a privately-financed dry port that will be located 56 km outside of the Port of Dar es Salaam, and will use shuttle trains to take transit and upcountry cargo to and from the Port,” BlackIvy spokeswoman Erin Pelton confirmed to Breitbart News.

“BlackIvy is focused on in-land logistics, not operating seaports,” Pelton added, denying that BlackIvy is running into opposition from the Tanzania Ports Authority.

So how did the US-based "BlackIvy," a brand new firm with no discernible track record of building ports, manage to become an overnight player in the East African energy market?

==============================================

It turns out Secy Clinton's cronies had help from a Blumenthal-connected company called Symbion Power, which was created to profit off rebuilding efforts in Iraq and Afghanistan after the U.S. invasions. Symbion Power happens to be a very good friend of Hillary Clinton’s.

GAME ON Amb Wilson teamed up w/ Blumenthal, pumping himself up as a 'director' of Symbion Power---an outfit seeking millions of dollars in contracts from an obscure State Dept government agency chaired by Hillary....the Millennium Challenge Corp. (MCC)

In September 2010, Hillary's MCC awarded Symbion $47 million tax dollars for (cough) 'power projects in Tanzania.'

EVER WONDER how much of the $47 million tax dollars got to Tanzania....after the players divvied it up among Blumenthal, Wilson, the Clintons, Obama?

<><> Did Mill’s BlackIvy Group donate to The Clinton Foundation? <><> Did the Clinton Foundation partner w/ her BlackIvy Group in some phony sub-Sahara scam “for the children?” <><> Did Hillary’s State Dept grant Mill’s Group tax monies? <><>Did any of the Sub-Sahara countries listed above donate to the Clinton Foundation?

NOTE--OBAMA ALSO HELPED HIMSELF TO STATE DEPT TAX DOLLARS The State Dept's Millenium Challenge Corp is also the source of the 100 million tax dollars Michele gave to Morocco "to teach Muslim girls"

===================================================

FREEPER ACTION PROJECT--DO THIS NOW: demand the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) books be opened.

We demand to know the financial details and the scope and dimension of individuals connected to these outrageous State Dept giveaways.........govt parasites profiting at taxayers' expense.

I appreciate your astute and timely reminder that Trump, who now has his days dominated with really big decisions, is not talking directly to us as much as he did during multiple campaign stops per day. I will confess even as a day-one Trump supporter who faced criticism from friends & family alike for my support of him that I’ve so quickly fallen prey to media-induced nervousness about Romney and the like. Your comment is a good reminder that the same guy who survived cage match after cage match with candidates, party leaders, Soros, and the media has the gumption to stay the course.

FREEPER ACTION: CONTACT CONGRESS HERE---http://www.contactingthecongress.org/

Demand the Millenial Challenge Corporation books be opened....to determine the number of scams that have been perpetrated using our tax dollars.

NOTE: Hillary chaired the MCC as Secy of State.

====================================

BACKSTORY In 2008, the US State Dept's Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) commenced a five-year, $697.5 million compact with the Kingdom of Morocco to reduce poverty and stimulate economic growth.

The State Dept's MCC compact invests in expansion of fruit tree agriculture (including olives, nuts, and dates), support for small-scale fisheries and fish- markets, enhancement of the artisanal sector in the city of Fes, and training for small-scale businesses across all these sectors,

.........with an emphasis on training for women and youth including literacy training.......

UPDATE In 2016, Mr O gave Mrs O $100 million tax dollars from the State Dept's Millennium Challenge Corporation on her visit to Morocco, targeted to "teach Muslim girls". The 100 million tax dollars are to be administered by the post-presidency tax-exempt Obama Foundation.

Michele, her daughters and her mother in Morocco's palace.
LOOK AT THAT SMILE---millions of our tax dollars to spend back in Chicago.

I can't believe Willard Romney is being seriously considered either.

To wit: How can PEOTUS ever overlook Romney's worst public statement?

I used to be a Democrat so nothing shocks me, but Paul Ryan, Mitt Romney, and others quickly virtue-signaled, in effect playing for Hillary.

Mitt’s response was the most perfervid. He claimed the taped words “demean our wives and daughters and corrupt America’s face to the world”. I cannot improve upon the responses of my online friends “daddy” and James D” to this nonsense.

Daddy could not contain himself on Romney’s claim that this corrupted “America’s face to the world”. More

:The Department of State is badly broken and desperately needs to be fixed.”

This article gets this part correct.

The Secretary of State will need to clean up the mess in the corrupt and dysfunctional State Department.

The article claims Romney is the right person for the job.

If you look at Romney's political career he has a history of undermining and backstabbing Republicans and conservatives.

Romney and his people have used the media to dishonestly attack other conservatives.

Romney failed at every political task he has attempted.

Romney was a miserable failure as governor of Massachusetts.

He failed in his attempt to get the Republican nomination in 2008.

He failed miserably in his presidential campaign in 2012. The Republican candidate should have easily beaten Obama but Romney ran an incompetent campaign and it seemed like he was trying to lose.

Romney wanted the Republican nomination in 2016. When Jeb got all the big donors and party establishment Romney was afraid to compete.

When Trump defeated Jeb Romney worked to prevent Trump from getting the nomination and then worked to get Hillary Clinton elected.

The only way a Romney Secretary of State makes sense is if Trump uses Romney to clean out the State Department.

But Romney's alliances are with the media, the globalists, the Washington establishment and the Trump haters. Romney will work with the corrupt Clinton people in the State Department against Trump.

I’d suggest sending him to the VA where his organizational skills might be able to save it. He did save the Olympics so let him do his best for our Veterans.

Romney is the ultimate RINO invertebrate. Lacks a spine. Mindlessly mouths libtard platitudes. Really belongs under the “Democrap” column. Has no particular experience defending U.S. interests against foreign governments. Would stab Trump in the back and work against him at the first drop of a hat. My cat Zizu has far more qualifications than this pretender. And, she’s a heck of a lot cuter, too.

I agree, Rudy is the best of the candidates we know about. I hope he chooses him, or if there is another dark horse that is better, that will be great.

We'll see soon enough.

Trump is human, he will make mistakes (duh), but overall, he has really good hiring instincts, and I have come to trust that part of him. He has earned our trust in that regard. Look at who he has nominated, it's just extraordinary how good his list is so far. Like I said earlier, if he nominates Willard, I will give him the benefit of the doubt though I dislike even considering the idea.

If not SOS, Rudy will still play a major role in the Trump Administration.

As an aside, I wonder if Trump isn't planning to reduce the State Department duties and responsibilities to basically nothing more than handling logistics for foreign embassies (at the direction of the CIA) and attending funerals...and run foreign policy out of the WH.

We might give some consideration to Trump’s respect for two great generals, MacArthur and Patton. I considered his campaign as modeled after Patton’s genius in going farther and faster than any general in history. MacArthur retained Hirohito after Japan’s defeat which was the genius stroke to controlling the Japanese, thereby enabling the restructuring of Japan. I think there is something of MacArthur’s thinking in Trump’s playing with the idea of Romney at SoS.

I like Bolton but he is a warmonger

The same argument can be made for Bolton as people making the case for Romney

Trump is in charge...Bolton has to follow Trump's long term strategy

At least with Bolton he won't be a back stabber....and also doesn't see the SOS position as a springboard to the presidency.

Romney did everything he could to derail Trump...recall the unknown "presidential candidate" Romney was touting to take away a few EC votes from Trump.

...and that speech he made.

IF Romney can take State and realign it to operate as a functioning business (while continuing its actual mission as the US Govt’s dept dealing international relations) it might work. That Dept. is such a quagmire; it MUST be drained.

The only question is how long does that last before Romney quits and starts slinging insider dirt on you?

Don’t worry about that. The Donald has already proven himself to be Teflon Don. There isn’t anything left to throw.

Romney is not the answer to re-organizing the VA.

After all, his RomneyCare when he was Governor of Mass., was the precursor to Obamacare.
