Yep, I’m an enigma even to myself: A conservative public servant and a city administrator who lives on a hobby farm. I literally lose sleep for days when working on city budgets out of concern for making sure they are rational, defensible and honorable in the eyes of the taxpayers who get stuck with the bill. To conservatives I’m too liberal because some park or program should be eliminated in their eyes but I don’t do it. To liberals I say no way too much and remind them of a modern “Nazi.” I know I’m in the right spot when everyone is equally annoyed with me - but still respects what I do.
