Trump picks Elaine Chao for transportation secretary
CNN ^ | 11/29/2016 | Phil Mattingly

Posted on 11/29/2016 8:22:31 AM PST by usafa92

(CNN)President-elect Donald Trump has chosen Elaine Chao, the former labor secretary and wife of Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, to be his choice for transportation secretary, an official briefed on the matter told CNN on Tuesday.

The announcement is expected to come this afternoon. Chao served as secretary of labor under President George W. Bush from 2001 through 2009 -- the longest tenure in the position since World War II -- and has been married to McConnell since 1993. She was the first Asian-American woman to serve in a Cabinet position.

Chao also served as the deputy secretary of transportation under President George H.W. Bush from 1989 to 1991. Following her time in government, Chao has held a position as a distinguished fellow at the Heritage Foundation in addition to conducting media appearances.

At the Transportation Department, Chao would have a key role in helping Trump get an infrastructure spending bill passed through Congress and start government-backed works projects -- a role likely to be complicated by her relationship with McConnell, who will also be a critical player in any infrastructure bill negotiations.

Well, I have said all along that I know there are things that The Donald is going to do that I am not going to like..and I made peace with it. At least theoretically.

When it actually happens I am going to have to remember that I said that ;-) Like today with Turtle's wife and Romney as SOS

As long as he gets immigration, SCOTUS , and 2nd Amendment right I will have to take the good with the bad!

That’s right. Political move of the decade. McConnell kept his criticism of Trump muted as well.

yeah but you have to question her judgment. She sleeps with him.

Maybe she like slooooow, turtle sloooow cuddling in lieu of passion, and at his age, cuddling may be pushing the limit.

But you are correct, she does sleep with him:)

“I’m tired of these political payback appointments from Trump.”

Aww, I’m so sad for you. Trump proves he is brilliant strategically & hires great people to work for him during the election despite the media & Cankles $$$ but now that he’s PEOTUS he’s made you tired. My sig line applies to your “tiredness”.

” a role likely to be complicated by her relationship with McConnell”

No, CNN that is a relationship guaranteed to make everything go smooth as silk. Are ya’ll THAT stupid at CNN, or has the ridiculousness of your lies sunk so low that they’re just so stupid they’re not even laughable anymore?

At any rate, this a brilliant appointment that joins the Senate Majority Leader to Trump’s hip right from the gitgo, and nearly guarantees Mitch delivers the entire GOP Senate to Trump on nearly every issue for four years.

Not to mention, the woman has excellent experience and credentials, and clearly has amazing political instincts and capabilities since she’s pretty much the power that’s pushed the Mitch throne into the forefront since she married him in 1993.

Trump can bring a “You’re fired” sign into every cabinet meeting and leave it face up in the middle of the table.

That should keep everyone in line!

“If she can untangle the gordian knot that is truck drivers hours of service regulations she has my vote.”

I expect we’ll see some fast actions on a lot of DOT areas that the dems have really screwed up.

The Trucker regs were designed to FORCE Truckers into the teamsters, and has absolutely nothing to do with safety.

The same applies to the arbitrary 1,500 hour pilot rule, picked out of thin air, to create a “Pilot Shortage” and strengthen the hand of the Pilot’s Unions.

The arbitrary CAFE standards.

The Pilot’s “bill of Rights”.

Railroad and Highway Infrastructure, etc.

IMO, this is a good pick, and it cucks McConnell into supporting Trump’s agendas.

So how about we base our thinking going forward on facts rather then continue to cling to hurt feelings left over from the Primaries?

Maybe when the zot vigilantes give it a rest.

When we are being zotted after the election because we are insufficiently in awe of Donald Trump, we are hardly in an atmosphere where we can proceed "forward on facts."

Every time I post I have to look over my shoulder. If the forum remains in campaign mode, you will never get to operate on facts. Indeed, you will never get to operate on opinion, a glaring omission in a forum of opinion, because you will only get propaganda.

We cannot base our thinking going forward on facts when those facts are judged on a subjective scale. What was essential in the primary season is now of no consequence? This is not to do with hurt feelings, this has to do with finding solid philosophical ground and an honest standard of measurement.

Mitch and his wife represent the worst of the corrupt GOPe, and this is a dirty deal. But it’s easy to sit in my soft chair and criticize. Trump has to find some way to navigate among the entrenched crooks in DC.

“Trump can bring a “You’re fired” sign into every cabinet meeting and leave it face up in the middle of the table.”

He doesn’t need to: Cabinet heads exist SOLELY to carry out a President’s orders. Period. They’re like VPs in a corporation who exist solely to implement the CEO’s strategy and philosophy. They all know that when they’re appointed.

Priebus is giving too much advice that involves cronies getting jobs, but that is just my opinion.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

having the mandate of the people voting for trump is one thing.

getting his platform implemented is another thing.

4 years of grid lock would not be good for anyone.

otoh, it appears trump is putting together a “construction crew” type administration with the experience & skill sets to “bulldoze” it through.

haven’t seen a bad pick yet.

“If the forum remains in campaign mode”

Looks to me like YOU’RE the troll still in “campaign mode”:

“Throughout the entire primary campaign Trump supporters found example after example to tell us that Ted Cruz, the man who called Mitch McConnell a liar to his face on the floor of the Senate, had sold out to the establishment but Donald Trump had not.

It’s obvious unbanning the Cruz trolls was a BIG mistake, and ya’ll SHOULD be looking over your shoulder every post ya’ll make because NONE of you post ANYTHING positive about President Trump, just more of the same kind of carping crap spewed forth by the rest of your nattering nabobs of negativism compatriots like CNN/WaPo/NYT/ABC/CBS/NBC.

I strongly suggest that if these are the kinds of posts you find necessary, that you go back to where they are appreciated, like therightscoop.com
