Senator Chris Coons (D., Del.) said on CNN Tuesday that he regrets the rule change Senate Democrats made to the nomination process.
The filibuster no longer acts as an emergency brake on the nomination, Coons said.
The senator was questioned on the nomination process and the rule changes that senate Democrats had made in order to keep Republicans from derailing their selected nominees.
Coons admitted that Democrats had watered down the nomination process after Kate Bolduan mentioned that Republicans could now take advantage of the simpler consent process.
I do regret that. Frankly I think many of us will regret that in this congress because it would have been a terrific speed bump, potential emergency break, to have in our system to slow down the confirmation of extreme nominees, Coons said.
Coons continued saying that blocking President-Elect Trumps appointments now came down to the will of the American people, arguing that the general public will find his nominees too extreme and sound the alarm with their senators.
After mentioning the election results and arguing that the American people did not give Trump an overwhelming mandate as Hillary Clinton won the popular nomination and senate Democrats won more votes than their Republican counterparts, John Berman reminded the senator that Donald Trump had won the White House.
Next election should be a hoot it Republicans demand a recount in every Senate election and house election that is close.
I can not even imagine the aftermath of the next Presidential election.
She made the mistake of not being a RINO and not hiring his consultants.
Its not too late for McConnell to reinstate it!!!!
Then Trump can tell McConnell’s wife, You’re Fired!
What do DE people know and when did they know it?
He beat Christine because of New Castle County. He was bought and paid for by the establishment. They burned her as a witch. I personally think that she would have done a lot of good for this state.
yeah.
that’s what makes me a tad nervous about the talk by Clarke and co- being able to just lock away people based on ‘terroristic’ posts could come back to bite us in the butt, really badly, when the other side gets to define ‘terrorism’.
Karma’s a bitch, for the bearded Marxist.
Suck it, Chrissy, you little piece of dog turd.
That single event caused me to turn on Karl Rove forever
The ass you kick today may be the ass you have to kiss tomorrow.
TS, buddy.
Boo hoo.
Translation of Elderly Snowflake Chris Coons: We made the process easier for us to confirm our party’s extreme nominees. We expected the Republicans would revert to the old system allowing the filibuster. It is there fault that we cannot block their nominees. It’s just not fair!!
It seems the voters of the state of Delaware do not realize that the snow is the first part of a snowflake to melt leaving only a flake behind.
Wow - political power can change sides. Who knew.
Yup! They aren’t laughing now! :-)
That ass trashed Kellyanne today, as well. Why does Rover get any platform anymore. What a loser!!
The dems saw Trump losing and taking down the republican party...This scene of Trump being President and republicans controlling the congress was not even in their top 100 scenes floating around in their brains.
You left out a word, the new meme is that when somebody is accused as a racist they are also accused as being sexist as well.
Trump’s a racist and a sexist.
