Democrats are lying to themselves about what this election meant
WaPo ^ | Chris Cillizzi

Democrats, of late, have taken to citing Hillary Clinton's historically large popular vote victory in the presidential race over Donald Trump as evidence that the country is still fundamentally on their side.

Judging by recent election results -- even before Clinton's stunning loss three weeks ago -- that's simply not true. Republicans not only control both the U.S. Senate and House but find themselves at or near historic highs in terms of governorships and state legislative control.

Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack got it exactly right then when he told The Washington Post's Greg Jaffe that the current state of the Democratic party is like a tree that "looks healthy on the outside but is in the throes of slow and long-term demise.”

Some of those comments are simply special

Especially the guy whining about how Republican governers rigged their states voting processes

As rush says...when they are not in power, they are hilarious

No quarter this time. They must be crushed

Thanks for sending that over.

I’d forgotten that I’d seen that series and it’s a reminder that I need to watch it again.

For those who haven’t seen it, it’s on youtube. Make sure you watch it.

Thanks Oratam.

The Democrats are correct.
Fraud, Cronyism, Perversion, and Free Stuff have tilted the popular vote decisively in their favor. The only thing restraining them is their location - they have states, like California, that are overwhelmingly Democrat, but the margin of victory in these states does not increase their electoral votes.
If the Democrats ever slip the protections of the Electoral College, or further infect the swing states, the Urban Democrats will be the lords of this nation.

As Rep Tim Ryan said yesterday...the Dem Party, as a national party, is dead. We are a northeast coastal and west coast party.

“You can drive some 3,000 miles across the entire continental United States — from sea to shining sea — without driving through a single county that voted for Hillary Clinton.”

You Betcha!

Respectfully, I disagree with the American Thinker who said:
“A major course correction is not going to happen for three reasons..”

There is only one reason a major Democrat course correction is not going to happen. That reason is they are so 100% sure they are right, in all cases, that they have lost the ability for introspection and self-evaluation. Introspection and self-evaluation are the base traits from which course corrections are built.

I do not recall reading anything that said Trump won the popular vote.

What I do recall reading was that Hillary won the popular votes for votes that were counted. Many votes (absentee ballots and the like) are not counted unless including them might affect the outcome. For example, and using easy numbers, lets say Trump got 1,000 votes in TX, and Hillary got 900. If there were only 10 absentee ballots, they wouldn’t be counted because doing so wouldn’t tip the scales.

The thinking on the Republican side is that Trump won those uncounted ballots by a large enough margin that he’d have won the popular vote if counted.

The biggest problem with libs is that they believe their own bullsh*t.

I see the same reactions from 2000 happening all over again. The denial, the excuses, the blaming, the shrill name calling, etc. It took them 6 long years to come out of it.

You’re exactly right. Their strategy was to tease apart American’s cultural mainstream fabric into isolated victim groups (identity politics) with the hope of cobbling enough of them together to win the election. Real Americans sniffed it out because it caused so much visceral discomfort, and was antithetical to the credo of “E Pluribus Unum.” They rolled the dice and lost everything, and likely for many years to come.

Almost there - just move one level of abstraction higher, and you'll have the entire picture. Essentially, the NWO financial/media globalists wanted complete control to further maximize their own power & wealth.

In order to achieve that end, it was first necessary to destroy cultural cohesion among individual nation states. Uncontrolled (illegal) immigration, cultural marxism, identity politics and controlled speech - aka PC - were the tools of 'divide & conquer' used to reach those objectives.

We should never forget that both the GOP & DNC were locked into this strategy - the uni-party was a real threat to our collective liberty & freedom. Recall how much push-back the Don got trying to move the party back to the center.

While he was successful destroying this evil ideology on he right, the left hasn't yet fully realized that their moment is over. Now they to will have to re-group and focus on national issues if they wish to regain any semblance of power.

Not really.
The Democrats are the Urban party. (Also the party of illegal aliens, as the south Texas border region indicates.)
The ‘Pubbies are the party of the suburbs and rural areas.

That is pretty much what I remembered too but I was hoping that the uncounted votes would be counted. So we could shut democrats up and they would quit saying that she really won.

Tom Vilsack has a point in that the Dems have been winning elections by making promises to every aggrieved little minority group that they can’t possibly deliver.

They are like that guy on the old Ed Sullivan Show trying to keep twelve plates spinning on poles. They are out of breath and the plates are about to come crashing down.

This isn't accurate at all. Eight points from 2008 to 2015 means each point is one year. How did the Dems gain 20% in 2009? Or 2012 there was no change from 2011, yet the Dems actually gained two seats?
