EPA plans to withdraw pollution rule for 7 Texas power plants

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency said it plans to withdraw a rule that would require seven Texas coal-fired power plants to reduce pollution coming from their stacks, providing at least a short-term reprieve for power companies fearful that the costs of ever stricter regulations would doom their plants.

The rule would have mandated that the Texas plants, as well as eight others in Oklahoma, update scrubbers and other air pollution control devices to preserve air quality near national parks and wilderness areas, including Big Bend National Park on the Texas border with Mexico, and Guadalupe Mountains National Park on the New Mexico border.

Several plant operators went to court to block the rule, arguing that the costly upgrades could force some plants to shut down and could create shortages of electricity in Texas.

The rule was under review by the U.S. 5th Circuit Court of Appeals, which over the past few months issued rulings favorable to the power producers, including one that prevented the EPA from enforcing the regulations. In a court filing Monday, the EPA said it plans to soon file a motion to withdraw the rule.

Environmental advocates said they expect the EPA to rework and resubmit the rule, but its future is uncertain as President-elect Donald Trump prepares to take office. . .

You forgot Bush’s “Homeland” and itsTSA morons. We have 17 security agencies already. DHS needs to go. FBI should be addressing domestic issues along with the NSA tieing in the CIA.

That for ALL the Agencies and Departments except for the original four, and in those only 80% need to be kicked out.
Start with three of them, EPA,DOE and DOE. Set their budgets to Zero. The budget is already passed so do a Supplemental Appropriation and vote negative amounts equal to the funding in the budget.

Broadband has enebled more virtual employment. The entire EPA should be broken into divisions and those divisions should be moved to Alaska and to North Dakota. The current building in DC should be sold to private parties. Other departments should be likewise relocated. The buildout would create thousands of jobs in low population areas.

Anybody not willing to relocate will be free to leave government employment. By the way, there needs to be a hiring freeze in the US. Jobs are available at embassies in Sudan, Syria and Venezuela.

And moving across the map, we see another Trump Effect storm moving in the direction of the EPA.

Looks like Wednesday night Thursday morning may be kind of dicey around those parts...

EPA employees are reminded they can call in sick if the pressure is getting to them.

US. Jobs are available at embassies in Sudan, Syria and Venezuela.

There are still a few jobs left at the embassy in Sierra Leone also. Although my sons and daughters are doing their best to fill those.

How about firing 100% of current EPA officials? They are truly evil people.

If I remember correctly, years ago it was proven the pollution there was caused by plants in Mexico. What good will hamstringing USA plants do for this!

As the bank robber said, when asked why he robbed banks, "That's where the money is."
