For most American Jewish liberals, November 8 was not only a watershed election, but a day in which the music died. They have been left speechless and silent, unwilling to fathom the implications. These liberal Jews have become disoriented and unsure about what to do and what to say; they seem to be suffering from a bad case of PTSD (Post Trump Stress Disorder). For many of these liberal Jews, they are slowly waking up to a new reality of losing their political clout, being left out of the multiple loops of power and access to the White House. They have been demoted to the rank of irrelevancy.
Betting on the wrong horse is always a wrenching experience. Over the past eight years, liberal Jews supported and abetted a president and a Democratic Party that was overtly anti-Israel and pro-Palestinian. During this period, Islamic terror attacks have spread throughout America, and anti-Semitism has blossomed in Americas universities and campuses, poisoning the minds of Americas future political and business leaders. This is real anti-Semitism, not the made up anti-Semitism associated with the emerging Trump administration. In recent years, Jews have been attacked and vilified at levels never seen before in recent history. All this didnt matter; the Democratic Party was a sure bet as far as they were concerned.
Jewish liberals became drunk with Jewish power. In a wide variety of domestic spheres immigration and refugee policy, civil rights and affirmative action, abortion rights, church-state separation issues Jewish liberals became major players, helping to make the rules and call the shots on matters from health care to zoning.

Trump Acceptance Resistance Disorder.
BTTT.
They don’t even make the rules for identity politics anymore, daaaamn.
You said it.
Glad to have gone from a Democrat Jew to a Reagan Republican Jew.
Thanks Ronnie & Go Trump:-)
Such utter nonsense
We got Mnuchan and a few others.
Like any of the other small splinter groups the Dems tried to cobble together, they were in denial that they were out of touch with most people in this country. They can reliably carry the West Coast and much of the northeast; they can’t continue to ignore (and despise) the masses of people in between.
Should be PRE-Trump Stress Disorder.
He has not even taken office yet.
Because Trump accepts anyone who can do the job regardless of race, gender, religion, etc.
There is consolation for liberal Jews who feel their power ‘diminished’. Just change yet again the ideological colors (just don’t call it neocon this time) and a good part of the American Right will rush to shower you with favors and follow your ideas with fawning admiration.
You don’t even have to hide your liberal views... just call yourself ‘patriotic Americans’ or ‘right-wing Zionist’ and you are good to go for the unsuspecting Right.
The smart boys from Goldman-Sachs have figured this out.
There is always a place for these folks in any US admin.
Ship them off to Iran. The Persian king Cyrus helped them out a couple thousand years ago. Give them some perspective.
to clarify, the utter nonsense is the mindset of the liberal Jew, not the article.
But November made me shiver
With every paper I’d deliver
Bad news on the doorstep
I couldn’t take one more step
I can’t remember if I cried when I
Read about Bill’s rejected bride
But something touched me deep inside
The day the music
Died
Care to elaborate?
I’ve never understood American Jews rush into government positions over the last few decades and then pushing an extreme form of liberalism. Historically, it always leads to an anti-Semitic backlash.
In their history, some Jews thought Napoleon would usher in the messianic age.
Before that a great many pinned their hopes on Jacob Frank (ended in disaster), and before him on Sabbati Zevi (ended in disaster).
In our time many believed in Obama and Clinton.
c’mon guys, get real.
These people would vote themselves into the gas chambers if it meant keeping a Republican out of office.
