As Breitbart Wages "War" On Kelloggs, Advertisers Flee
Breitbart News, an ultraconservative website that has served as a platform for the white nationalist alt-right movement, is touting its growing readership and main street American values as a reason advertisers should stick with it.
Some marketers, however, are heading for the exits, directing their advertising dollars away from Breitbart amid the publications call for a boycott against Kelloggs (K), which has pulled its ads from the site. That prompted Breitbart to declare war on Kelloggs: Editor-in-Chief Alexander Marlow said on the site that to blacklist Breitbart News in order to placate left-wing totalitarians is a disgraceful act of cowardice.
Breitbarts campaign against Kelloggs is unusual on a number of fronts, not in the least because news organizations traditionally maintain a separation between their business operations and their editors and reporters so that journalists can operate independently from business interests.
And whether the boycott will help Breitbart financially appears questionable, given that attacking a major advertiser isnt likely to make the site more appealing to other brands. (snip)
Other companies saying this week that theyll pull their ads from Breitbart include Vanguard, 3M (MMM) and AARP, among others.
Kelloggs said it decided to remove its advertising because Breitbart didnt align with its values. It said the decision has nothing to do with politics. Stephen Bannon, Breitbarts former chairman, served on President-elect Donald Trumps campaign and is now set to become one of the incoming presidents top advisers in the White House.

I think Dan said they had 2 MILLION more news hits than HuffPo.
What, exactly, is this “alt-right”?
That makes perfect sense to me. Clearly, Breitbart.com is a major player in the news business. I was just looking for more data — provided that I didn’t have to pay an Amazon company for it. :-)
BTW, for a bit of Schadenfreude, check out the graphs for Freerepublic.com vs Democraticunderground.com
I kissed AARP off years ago. They pushed Obamacare and always seem to support Democrat socialist ideas. They are a political organization for the Democrats, pretending to be and advocate for seniors.
"...Breitbart News, an ultraconservative website that has served as a platform for the white nationalist alt-right movement..."
Un-freaking-real. They're not just playing the race card - they're maxing out their whole account.
That statement is just ridiculous and libelous. Can’t CBS be sued for that? I guess they can just be ignored and boycotted. They really want to submerge in the swamp and compete with huffpost? Disgusting.
This article just compounds the slander by onceagain asserting Breitbart is “white nationalist” without a shred of evidence this needs to be challenged every time it is asserted.
My response to Kelloggs has been to download recipes for granola and start making my own from scratch. That said, Breitbart's response to Kelloggs has made it clear that they (Breitbart) may present a kind of danger that companies would rather not deal with; and I have no problem with other advertizers leaving and/or avoiding them.
As the article put it:
And whether the boycott will help Breitbart financially appears questionable, given that attacking a major advertiser isnt likely to make the site more appealing to other brands.
...
There are a lot of places advertisers can go to reach the same audience, and even maybe a bigger audience,
In any event, anyone whose browser has basic malware blocking never sees ads on Breitbart, anyway.
“That statement is just ridiculous and libelous. Cant CBS be sued for that?”
I’ll bet they can. I hope Breitbart’s attorneys have already let CBS know that they’re going to court.
Been boycotting the Commie aarp since I turned 50.
“Vanguard, 3M (MMM) and AARP,”
Do you have any links where they tried to trash Trump, after or before the election.
