Looks like he got them to the table.
Didn’t Taiwan call Trump?
And how many Tibets?
New York Times is mollified. Their guys have come through with a formal response.
In the minds of the NYT staff, they called the situation right. Trump was in error.
So who set those rules? And you expected Trump to be held subject to those rules?
Donald J. Trump is sui generis, in a class by himself, and a force of Nature.
What happened? Did Trump's swearing in get moved up?
I’m sure Trump doesn’t give a crap about the feelings of the Chinese...
He took a phone call, was he supposed to hang up on her...?
The Chinese will just have to suck it up...
Every move Trump has made since he ran has been a combination of attack and defend. I expect this is no different.
Trump wants the U.S to have good relationship with Russia. Trump wants China to shorten the leash on N. Korea, among other things.
This contact with Taiwan is no mistake. It’s the opening salvo in the great up and coming ‘negotiation’ with China.
There is only one China. There is only one Taiwan. There is only one Tibet.
Stay out of Taiwan, get out of Tibet!

Statement by Hillary Clinton on Taiwan Election
March 25, 2008
Campaign 2008
Hillary Clinton
for President
I want to extend my congratulations to Ma Ying-jeou for his election as the new president of Taiwan. My congratulations extend to the people of Taiwan for their democratic achievements which have earned them the admiration of the entire international community.
The people of Taiwan began direct competitive election of the president in 1996. Since then, the presidency has changed parties twice and voter turnout in this election was impressive, a clear indication of how robust this new democracy is. The friendship between the people of Taiwan and the United States has remained deep as democracy on Taiwan has strengthened.
I hope that under President-elect Ma's capable leadership, Taiwan's political institutions will thrive, and that ways can be found to appropriately expand Taiwan's contributions to the international community.
Given the statements of Mr. Ma during the campaign and those of the leaders of the People's Republic of China, I would hope that cross-Strait dialogue will be possible, and will contribute significantly to a reduction of tensions in the Taiwan Straits and East Asia. Meanwhile, I want to reaffirm my commitment to the longstanding relevant principles of American policy, including the Three Communiques and the Taiwan Relations Act.
I wish we could get a sequence on the Nightly News of Trump receiving a copy of the protest at his desk, looking at it for several seconds and curling his lip ever so slightly while he says “Hmmph,” or gives a snort and flips it into the trash can beside the desk.
Chicoms can pound sand, we’ll talk with who ever we want.
This “Mr. Trump” I keep hearing about is a private citizen. He can call and take calls from anyone he damn well pleases for any reason he damn well pleases.
Taiwan are the true nation of China.
They see mainland China as the renegade province.
Trump making lib heads explode..Video at 11
The negotiations have begun.
No nation should be able to tell the USA who or who not we can speak. That is juvenile and demeaning, and any US diplomat allowing it to happen needs to be removed. This is a great nation and must act as such.
The path to peace is having great power of military, economy and strength of character. When we tell a nation to stand down, they will know to throw down their arms and go home to their wife and kids. Every aggressor respects strength, and that must be the US.
.
Eff China!
.
Oh, piff. If they in fact lodged a protest it was due to being shamed by the NYT.
Trump to China - “I’m the new guy, the one that doesn’t bow to other nations and who won’t be dictated to by tyrants. Let’s talk about how you been screwing things up and figure out how to get you in line.”
