President-elect Donald Trump faces immediate challenges: managing the war against ISIS, fixing ObamaCare and boosting growth to create jobs. But as the fallout from his recent conversation with the president of Taiwan indicates, an increasingly assertive China poses the most vexing and far-reaching challenges for American prosperity and security.
China has accomplished hyper growth supplying Western consumers with inexpensive goods and attracting Western investment to obtain necessary technology, but it has hardly played by the established rules and norms of global trade. It has subsidized exports, manipulated its currency and engaged in other abusive practices.

I believe Trump is broader minded. I believe Trump is going to wish freedom to other countries, too.
I agree with your thoughts there.
The upside on Trump is unlimited.
That’s one of the funnier things about the gifts of God that we get before we understand them. Yes, we are going to misuse them. If it weren’t for the mercy of God, we’d utterly destroy ourselves that way — as it were, we incur headaches, but the elect DON’T utterly destroy themselves, they eventually get the hint.
TWB
Our dear lefties are all verklempt, because what they falsely promised would transform America and the world to the good... is about to get upstaged.
Now with that said, and knowing I might get some rotten tomatoes for saying it... Donald isn’t actually as much conservative as centrist. Conservative is kind of a defensive political action. It’s the best holding action, perhaps, that the mortal coil can do when it’s still acting mostly for its own self interest. When the gifts of God pour out like a river on those willing to use them as intended, the rules change.
Will China stop selling us their Fake Junk ?
Well, some folks do. I agree with that.
Sadly, some folks reject salvation and the hand-up God extends.
The Economist is spoiling for a fight between the US and China because they know that all the chicoms need to do is surround their perpetually overcast little island with gunboats and it’s game over.
Ah, the worst fake junk there is, is the servitude of the common Chinese man. He isn’t seeing the trickle down.
God’s about to make an emancipation proclamation on much of the world in general, as I smell the spiritual wind that is coming. If I’m wrong I’m wrong.
But anyhow, Donald seems to be bent on getting America out of perpetuating complicity with some of the more freedom-robbing affairs of globalism.
Not just a hand up. It’s a blessed elevator!
And here WE are, looking so stupid to God, because we insist that the only proper thing is to climb the stairs.
Yes, it is.
Urging folks to take advantage of God’s offer and sacrifice, isn’t stupid. We can’t force folks, and shouldn’t because even God doesn’t. Still, we should urge folks to. It is our duty to.
So insist? No. Urge, definitely.
Yup. If Trump stands firm, China will have to deal with tariffs if they want to continue to flood our country with their cheap labor goods. Although trade wars in the past were detrimental to both sides, there is little downside with such an approach nowadays.
The only downside for America is that Walmart, COSTCO, Target and others will have to raise prices. I'm okay with that if it increases jobs for the 94 million who have given up finding work.
People end up being willing slaves to pride, but some escape that evil master.
I know you folks have gotten sick of me talking about the Garden of Eden... but that’s where the serpent’s pride was originally bought into by the souls of all mortal mankind in some kind of collusion that the bible doesn’t explain, but does express.
That’s pretty silly, the idea that we can know good and evil like God does. I’ve learned long ago that I can’t. I need reminding and teaching about what I do know about good and evil, over and over and over, and it’s God doing the reminding and teaching.
Just Google and you will find them. They are all over the Net and now buy only Made In America products when I can.
That’s preaching the gospel, in season and out of season. It starts out hard as we are spiritually weak, but becomes easier as we gain spiritually stronger.
Sometimes there seems little choice but Chinese. When that happens, I do buy the Chinese item, but I send a prayer back to the source of the item as well — a prayer to bless and set free.
I don’t argue with any of that.
I do think we are charged with leading folks to a better life observing God’s plan.
It is also true that we need to be very careful about blanket claims of right and wrong, but there are glaring examples of safe bets.
Murder, rape, abusing children...
There are some black and whites out there.
