They’ll just embarrass themselves and risk a loss depending on the case.
nuke them with the option! who needs these clowns any way !
Then, the repubs should go thermo-nuclear.
Jeezy—Talk about trying to create news.
The Pubbies need to get this through their thick heads RIGHT NOW.
The filibuster is DEAD.
D-E-A-D DEAD! DEAD for cabinet nominees.
DEAD for legislation. DEAD for lower court judges.
DEAD for SCOTUS nominees.
Harry Reid killed it.
Any of these clowns who do not realize that the Democrats will adopt these rules ten minutes after they regain the majority are smoking crack.
Still wish that they hadn't killed Scalia.
WV Sen. Machins will probably go with the GOP as he is up for re-election, and should be a Republican anyway.
They can try that in 2019 when Tump is a lame duck. They have to consider appointments until then.
First the dems have to confess:
What really happened to Justice Scalia?
For the SC fight, republican nominees should be prepared to respond to questions, by airing all the dirty laundry of the questioning senator. Rumor and anonymous accusations should be included. Nothing should be off the table.
We need to primary GOPe Senators, and after that smash the filibuster.
It’s possible to get rid of the filibuster first, but this would require us to disenfranchise the fake news media (NBC/CNN/NYT/etc.) and have the threat of a primary challenge to make the GOPe fall in line (note: primary them anyways! This is important! Do not let them get away with pretending to be conservatives!). The ones who pull an Arlen Spectre and switch parties will probably be toast in their general elections.
Provided that the GOPe is destroyed, I see no issue with getting rid of the filibuster. The Dementocrats will never be able to obtain more than 50 senators once their voting fraud institutions collapse.
The Rats, and Rat media will hound Trump and his administration for the next 4 years, and then some. So use the nuclear option. Continued use of this should put the filibuster to rest for good.
Well, it WILL rub their noses in it. Why not, if they truly insist. If they want pain, they get pain.
Not having a mandatory autopsy on a SC judge is beyond insane.
And he was apparently at a place associated with Bohemian Grove folks? Holy moly.
Well, FWIW.
Well, it WILL rub their noses in it. Why not, if they truly insist. If they want pain, they get pain.
...
AND, as the support for sane policies grows in their constituencies, they are going to start getting painful questions from home. Why did you say no to that person?
As long as the grace of God is shed on America... it’s all good. Even the challenges. They are opportunities to knock the challengers galley-west.
Precisely.
If the GOP plays its cards right and smashes the filibuster, the Democrats will NEVER be a majority again.
I have no doubt McConnell will refuse to get rid of the filibuster, though, because his entire success is predicated on the existence of a big federal government.
A lot of how America works depends on judgment calls at various levels, and isn’t legislated. Nor should it be legislated. The very bulk of law required would be ridiculous.
God was looking out for America even here. The loss of Scalia served as yet another warning to many who might have otherwise been Nevertrumpers. Yes it’s possible he just up and died from natural causes, perhaps supplemented by supernatural factors, and autopsy would just dully say “Heart attack.”
But they can still force debates on all nominees. Force multiple votes. Put holds on nominees. And generally gum up the works enough so that Trump could spend his first 100 days just trying to get his cabinet in place.
Mr. Trump knows how to deal with vermin like this.
