In a well-known exchange in their first debate, Donald Trump castigated Hillary Clinton for retreating from the campaign trail in anticipation of the debate. Clinton responded that she had been busy preparing for the debate. And she added that she had as well been preparing for the presidency, a remark that elicited one of the illicit applauses from the audience.
The implication was that Donald Trump, whose style of campaigning seemed to combine free association and shooting from the hip, had himself not prepared for the presidency.
But that was not the case.
Donald Trump had prepared himself in a serious manner for his run for the presidency.
His method was to immerse himself in right-wing media. This practice included listening to talk radio—the likes of Limbaugh, Michael Savage & Sean Hannity—monitoring Tea Party websites and discussions; and following right-wing news sites like the Drudge Report and Breitbart news.

There is no mechanism for public dialog on airwaves via FR, unlike TV or Radio. Internet sites such as Drudge has millions of hits in a day. So it is more consequential than FR.
In other words, listening to what the voters were actually saying.

Classic case of "counting your chickens before they are hatched." If she had spent more time campaigning and less time picking out the drapes for the oval office, she might have doe better.
I have to say it is rather impressive the swiftness by which the left’s marching orders get communicated out. The template for the next four years will be to tar Trump as much as possible with the “alt-right”, i.e. white supremacist, neo-Nazi, label. I would sort of wag my finger at them, but then given the corner into which they’ve backed themselves, I’m not sure that there’s any better strategy available to them.
When all is said and done, and if Trump sticks to his plan - these people will be out of power for generations to come.
He will need all the prayers and support he can get.

The left is dying to believe Trump has massive appeal to white racists. In fact he has none.
Hillary is the heroine of white racism.
Hillary is elitist, just as white supremacists are elitist.
Hillary maintains a rigid antebellum political world view in which blacks and other minorities are maintained on government supported plantations.
Most importantly Hillary is pro abortion, a political movement that is pushing blacks toward zero population growth and eventual extermination.
Racists are all on board with Hillary. For them Trump is hated.
The irony is that despite all the lies told by websites like HuffPo, those outlets still have an audience.
So, Trump’s election isn’t in Puffington Host’s entertainment section anymore?
TRUMP smoked out for our benefit who among us was riding the “conservative” and neo-conservative label, but were Rino-Leftists.
Hotair.com is one.
National Review is another.
Cruz/Amanda Carpenter/Ana Navarro on CNN were premier elitist birds of a feather supporters of anti-grassroots TRUMP voters.
We were being “had” right and left and didn’t have a clue.
If DJT won because of the few hundred (at most) KKK and White supremacists vote, why did tens of thousands of Black and Latino voters vote for him? He had many more minority votes than McCain and Romney. That bogus phantom “alt-right” boogie man that the Leftist media has invented won’t fly at all as the Trump train roars through the countryside during the next four years, It’s just getting around the first bend now.

There is certainly a better strategy. They’re in a hole. At the minimum, to stop digging would be a better strategy.
The best part is, you can tell them that, tell them exactly how their identity politics and white male vilification has failed, and how it will continue to fail, and they still won’t believe you :)
