Ferndale is about 25 Miles Eureka.
That’s a whole lot of shakin’ going on. Hope all affected are well.
USGS site showing this as a 6.8 (plenty big) several miles off the coast in the Pacific.
Trump’s fault.
Is the Ferndale flasher OK?
Drudge says 6.8 off the coast of California.
Have to wonder how the giant redwoods react to such a violent shaking....I would have not wanted to be out for a walk in the middle of the tall trees when this hit.!!
165 KM (102 Miles) West—off the coast, 10 KM deep.
I hope everyone there is okay.
Really nice little town. Use to be full of retired military and some farmers. Huge number of Victorians....unfortunately they aren’t designed to survive a big earthquake
Three months ago I predicted a moderate quake was coming to CA.
Unusual patterns in the small quakes between SF and Eureka.
Now watch for patterns on the Cascadia Fault.
Tsunami possibility? Seek higher ground, Pacific coastal dwellers!
I wonder what the possibility of a tsunami is from this earthquake...??
Tubebender lives in Eureka. He’ll prolly send us some info. I pray he and his are OK.
Fault System Off West Coast Poses Greater Mega Quake Risk Than San Andreas
low probability. looks like the quake is on a transform fault and not a thrust. 6.8 at worst would be expected to generate a small tsunami if a thrust.
depends on the depth of the quake, current tide levels and the topography of the ocean floor... I lived in a very earthquake prone part of the world and earthquakes around the 7.0 mark generally produced only a ripple.
I don’t think its big enough for a Tsunami.
Watch for other activity north of Ferndale quake the next couple months.
No shaking here in Silicon Valley. Still attached with Mainland.
To bad it didn’t help them in seceding by disconnecting it from the rest of the USA!
Correct, its on the south end of the Cascadia.
Not too uncommon but definitely something to keep an eye on.
