The creator of the lifesaving Heimlich maneuver has died at the age of 96. Dr Henry Heimlich, who became famous in the 1970s for creating the technique to save choking victims, passed away at Christ Hospital in Cincinnati on Saturday. Heimlich had suffered a massive heart attack on Monday and died from complications.

I saved my then 4 year old daughters life years ago using the Heimlich. She had a marble stuck in her airway. I had picked her up in the football hold and smacked her on the back. That didn’t work so I sat her on my knee and with one quick thrust, dislodged the obstruction. She graduates from college in May and gets married in August.
I learned the Heimlich from my Air Force days. It all came right back to me.
