CNN falls sharply in ratings after election; Fox News grows
Atlanta Journal Constitution ^ | 06 December 2016 | Rodney Ho

With the election of Donald Trump, Fox News has actually seen ratings grow since November 8.

CNN and MSNBC, on the other hand, have watched viewership fall off sharply.

“I believe Fox News’ prospects for 2017 to be very strong,” Fox News’ James Murdoch said at a conference this week, adding that ratings “are less down than we expected.” Murdoch also said CNN and MSNBC numbers have dropped “quite a bit more” than Fox’s, partly because they had risen so much more during the campaign.

Over the years, the Fox News audience has been more loyal and less prone to breaking news cycles than CNN or MSNBC.

TVNewser did a quick check and found overall ratings for Fox News grew 16 percent from 1.57 million during the two months prior to Election Day to 1.823 million since November 8.

I didn't see Fox News coverage on election night but I went back and watched election night coverage on CBS, CNN and MSNBC and it was awful.

Carlson probably has a lot to do with their ratings jump.

They all suck equally. I do not even know why Fox is even considered right wing anymore. Did they cover a story that casts democrats in general or Obama specifically in something other than slavering mindless praise?

Wrong! CNN was so near the bottom that they couldn’t fall “sharply.” Fall, but only a short drop.

I turned to MSNBS election night just for grins...

There whole setup was almost like a high school virtual art class...

The "host" was dressed in a shirt, no tie, sleeves rolled up and uncombed hair...

It was ridiculously low rent...

Wherever you see CNN on a TV - airport, hospital, waiting room, restaurant - be sure to tell management CNN is biased and offensive, it’s a bad reflection on their business, and to stop putting it on.

Makes sense. All of my liberal friends who were hanging on Rachel Madcow’s every word assuring them of a Clinton landslide before the election have now sworn off “the news” altogether and are drowning their sorrows in Netflix dramas. I, on the other hand, swore off all news between the conventions and Election Day, but now can’t get enough of it, no matter the channel!

I can barely watch Fox - they talk down to us as bad as anyone else... just with a conservative bent. I don’t need them to tell me what to think and I don’t care how they feel. Just give me the news.

“Fox would really grow if they would get rid of that irrelevant attention whore Megyn Kelly.”

Move Tucker into her spot and open up Tucker’s spot for some young talent.

Fox pulling further ahead makes perfect sense. MSNBC and CNN appealy to the far left and farther left while Fox appeals to establishment republicans, moderates and a couple of shows for Conservatives.

" CNN was so near the bottom that they couldn’t fall “sharply.” Fall, but only a short drop"

Reminds me of a terribly non-P.C. joke of my misguided youth.

Do you know why the Polak suicide rate is so low?

Can't get hurt much jumping out of a basement window !

You have to be from a family that came from a big city to grasp the full humor.

Yep, university-indoctrinated elitists, also. They just know to smile down at us sometimes.
