This has nothing to do with boredom and everything to do with the massive cost of eating out.

If you go to a decent place, order for two, drinks, tips, taxes, you don’t leave without spending $75 to $125 dollars.

Try adding up the cost of dating someone these days. It’s downright prohibitive.

You are completely correct, DoughtyOne.
I have spoken with men and women friends and work colleagues with a $1000+ per month dating habit.
These are good, decent, and honorable people who go on many dates because they (paradoxically) do not wish to go on lots of dates.
I am glad to have a fantastic partner...contemporary dating would be brutal and expensive at this time!

If they're not down for the BOGO coupon special at Bob's Big Boy, I'm probably not their guy anyhow.

I agree on that point. Dinner dates are for people on their way to being a couple. You have the cost right (at least in my area, DC) about right.
