Violent crime increased in Los Angeles for the third straight year as police tried to stem a rash of homicides and gang-related shootings while dealing with a growing homeless population.
With more than 290 people killed in the city this year, homicides also rose for the third year in a row. Still, the city remains far safer than a decade ago, when 480 people were killed and there were 46% more robberies than this year.
According to statistics from the Los Angeles Police Department, robberies were up by 13%, aggravated assaults were up by 10% and rapes were down by 4% through Dec. 17, compared with the same period last year. Homicides were up by 5%.
Overall, violent crime was up by 10% over last year and 38% over two years ago.

LA is the second largest Mexican city after Mexico City according to US Congressman Luis Gutierrez, Chicago is 3rd.
Gutierrez is Mexico’s 2nd most influential member of the US Congress and he’s Puerto Rican.
Just make some crimes, not crimes. It’s what the idiots did here in CT and wha-LA! A reduction in crime.
If they can get just a few more leftists on their city council their crime rate will catch up to Chicago’s.
Look for the homeless issue to make a big comeback in the next 4 years.

The thing I hate most about this scenario is that kalifornians often reach the point where they realize they've flushed what was once the greatest state in the nation, right down the toilet. Then, they flee. They flee to Oregon, Washington, Colorado, and cities like Austin and Tulsa. They then proceed to turn those places into sewers as well.
Even conservative kalifornians are soft on social issues. If only they were forced to stay and fix the mess they've made.
