A Bucks County high school is feeling the heat after math students were given a question to solve that involved sexual abuse.
The students at Pennridge High School in Perkasie were given a homework assignment that involved trying to figure out which family member assaulted a young girl.
In a statement, Superintendent Jacqueline A. Rattigan apologized and said the question was downloaded from a website that allows teachers around the world to share educational resources.
They were given the question: y = x+2, 3x+6y = 12, Angelou was sexually abused by her mothers ___ at age 8, which shaped her career choices and motivation for writing. The multiple choice answers were boyfriend, brother or father.
It is not part of our approve curriculum, Rattigan said. The district has taken "steps to avoid such occurrences in the future."

Someone needs to sexually assault the curriculum developer. With a broom handle. Side ways.
Torches and pitchforks. Buckets of boiling hot tar and bags of feathers.
That’s what it’ll take to fix the edu industry.
This improbable math lesson is based on the life of the Left’s icon, Maya Angelou. Since she is now deceased, expressing relief that we will not have to hear her drivel at this Inauguration, as we did at Obama’s, would be in poor taste.
Some teacher was under tremendous pressure to work Black History Month into an algebra lesson.
Torches and pitchforks. Buckets of boiling hot tar and bags of feathers.
Thats what itll take to fix the edu industry.
We need to find the curriculum creator and ban them from any U.S. textbooks.
Something smells really bad here and we need to know “why” , “who”, and “how”.
D. The school’s superintendent.
The world hasn’t changed so much that this kind of crap should be acceptable.
Is this the work of Common Core?
I didn’t see anything about the teacher being fired, suspended or even ‘counseled’ about it.
If Kayeeesha was victimized by systemic police racism five times, and Keeyeshawwn was victimized by systemic police racism eight times, how many electoral votes did Hillary lose by?
The content of the inane questions is one thing, but what is the justification for linking trivial algebraic expressions to the inane questions. I hope this is no more than 9th Grade Math.
Well... I guess the school knows their audience.
But really... Those questions don’t even make sense in the context of the math questions.
To me, as a teacher, it looks like somebody downloaded questions from a website and didn’t do even basic proofreading - so didn’t notice that questions relating to an unrelated subject had wound up in their mathematics questions. Unacceptably lazy, even without considering the suitability of the specific questions, if that is what happened.
By the way, the answer is (0,2).
My sister in law (who is a teacher) lives in Perkasie and loves to get digs in about the fact that I (an attorney) homeschool my kids. How can I possibly be qualified, etc. I think I will have my 15 year old call her up tonight and ask for her help on this particular algebra problem.
Eradicate!
“How can I possibly be qualified”
There are still people that think that? Hah! I graduated from homeschool 20 years ago and the statistics were definitive, even then, that homeschooling is better. My wife and I are both engineers and homeschool grads.
All part of the plan of desensitizing these kids to that sort of behavior. I notice that it is implied that the sexual abuse produced a good outcome in that it helped the victime become a writer. Just grooming these youngsters for a world of pansexualism. I loathe the left.
