Obviously, the UN’s vote was a backdoor method of protecting butterfly habitat without going through the proper channels. It must have been an end run around the requirements to take a census of butterfly species and then require environmental impact studies as a condition of issuing building permits in potentially endangered butterfly habitats.
Is that what they call the Butterfly Effect?

The matter did not end there. Israel threatened to cut its contribution to the United Nations, thought to be $40 million a year, in protest of the resolution. It recently announced that it would withhold $6 million of that contribution, which a Twitter posting by Israeli Ambassador to the United Nations Danny Danon claimed “represents the portion of the UN budget allocated to anti-Israel bodies”.
Thank you. I will be more than happy when we withhold ours. I would be happier if the US announced the building of a new UN building in Israel.
