Gingrich says Trump shouldn't have a "good relationship" with intel agencies right now

As tensions remain high between President-elect Donald Trump and the intelligence community over Russian election interference, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich said Sunday that Mr. Trump shouldn’t have a good relationship with the U.S. intelligence agencies right now.

“I don’t think there should be a good relationship right now,” Gingrich told CBS’ “Face the Nation.”. “The very top people who are political appointees I think absolutely betrayed and undermined the intelligence community. I think they acted in ways that are totally inappropriate.”

Gingrich was responding to questions about how Mr. Trump will be able to work with intelligence agencies after his sustained criticism of their findings and actions. At his first press conference since being elected, Mr. Trump said it is a “disgrace” that information leaked out from his classified briefing with intelligence officials.

Mr. Trump should call for a full overhaul of the intelligence agencies once he takes office, Gingrich said.

“I hope what he does is say to the new director of national intelligence, Dan Coats, ‘I expect you to thoroughly overhaul the entire community,’” he said.

As for diplomacy with other countries around the world, Gingrich acknowledged that there will be a “period of adjustment” to Mr. Trump’s brand of diplomacy by Twitter -- and that the rest of the world will get used to his being “complicated.”

“We’re going to go through a period here of adjustment to the fact that we have the first truly entrepreneurial president we’ve seen in modern times,” he said. “Donald J. Trump got to be president his way and he’s going to be president his way -- and the fact is, the rest of the planet is going to have to for better or worse cope with a president who’s very complicated.”

Kinda reminds me of the saying “ Cat’s and Women are going to do as they please so dog’s and men need to get used to it” or something like that...

Newt knew how to get elected, then he fell apart because he was a spineless jellyfish.
Newt knows nothing of Alpha-Male politics.

I would disagree. This would be a little like saying that the Marines on Tarawa weren't as alpha-male fighters as the Marines on Iwo Jima, because the former got their asses kicked and barely succeeded. Newt, in his day, couldn't have known the lengths to which his opposition would go, not simply to fight his legislation, but to destroy him and uphold Pres. Clinton, to make Newt look the scumbag and Clinton the angel.

Trump learned the lessons of Newt's difficulties, and of W's difficulties, and has not made their mistakes. Lucky for us, the domestic enemy has not yet figured out that its tactics are ineffective against Trump.

My fear is not what the left is doing now, but what it will do when it figures this out, and realizes the only way it can achieve its objectives is the annihilation of Trump and all those who support him.

Well, to be entirely fair, they went after Newt like they are going after Trump.

Trump will weather this better, as Reagan did.

“they went after Newt like they are going after Trump.”

Yes, they did and are, which why we need an Alpha-Male winner like Trump to ignore the loser that caved as Newt did.

“His big mistake was the public hissy fit when he got passed over for VP. ...and then over again.”

Let’s not forget while Bill Clintoon was plooking an intern so was Newt. While the GOP was going after Bill, old Newt was unfaithful to his wife. I think that was the end of his political career. Mr. Holier-Than-Thou was as guilty as Bill.

I hear ya, but nah. This isn’t Newt having been a great fighter that was overwhelmed. He caved. Marines have always fought to the end. Newt didn’t.

“Trump will weather this better, as Reagan did. “

There is one significant difference between Trump and Reagan; Reagan never figured out how to go after his own party. He felt he needed to be politely loyal to the GOP while they were screwing him; while they were not acting like Republicans.

Trump has figured out the eGOP will do him in if he doesn’t go on the offensive.

Geez, son. Put that apostrophe away. It's embarrassing.

President Trump needs to “clean sheet” the CIA. Shut it down and start a new organization so that all of the infiltrators can be eliminated.

And there was no wide spread internet available for people to go to for real news or to counter the opinions of the corrupt and degenerate MSM.

And, Gingrich didn’t have the chan/pol/ and /reddit/the_donald alliance of weaponized autists and meme warriors pumping up his volume either.

I’m not a huge fan of Gingrich but calling him spineless for getting beat then while Tump doesn’t now is like giving Clinton the economy credit that was created by Reagan’s efforts as well as the ability for industries to cut way back on warehouse storage footage through just in time warehousing made possible by computers and the new fangled internet gizmo.

Newt has occasional valuable opinions.

I trust Trump to cull out the chaff and use the wheat. He’s got tremendous instincts.

Maybe he was referring to the possessive. :)

Well, I'm sure he possesses one, but he shouldn't let it hang out like that ;-)

Newt is Trump’s “bad cop” to Rudy’s “good cop.” Both Newt and Rudy are to Trump what Reggie was to Obama, minus the gay sex and dope smoking.

Newt made some terrible mistakes in office. But that was also 20+ years ago. What Newt is doing for Trump is presenting Trump’s options in a way which makes establishment Republicans go “hmm” and Democrats go apoplectic.

Trump must treat every agency has a hotbed of partisan corruption until proven otherwise. The Clintonistas undermined W until nearly the end of his first term. The Clinton people only sabotaged the White House computers when they left; Obama is sabotaging the country.

Gingrich is identifying the people at the top as the major problem and he’s right.

Interesting to note how much bass and reverb was added to John the marxist moderator’s mic/voice and not to Newt’s. Psychologically, the added bass/reverb gives a feeling of prominence/seriousness/alphaness where Newt’s was left basically natural or even, I think, bass removed or a little treble added.

Also, was Newt sitting lower than whatzisface? These are just very subtle tricks that are used by the media to bolster their own position and lower the “opponent”. Really pisses me off to see and hear it done constantly by the MSM hags. Since it’s very subtle (usually), the public, being unaware of those types of tricks, end up being influenced by them.
