France warned on Sunday of “serious consequences” if Donald Trump moves to recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital as representatives from 70 countries met in Paris to try to revive stalled Israeli-Palestinian peace efforts.
Neither Israel nor the Palestinians were represented at the conference, which Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu dismissed as “futile”.
Opening the meeting, French Foreign Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault said the international community wanted to “forcefully reiterate that the two-state solution is the only solution possible” to the seven-decade-old conflict. …

Israel (and the USA) are both unusual phenomena on the globe.
Theology, rather than continued mortal rule, has been the basis of the ownership assertions associated with both of them. The “manifest destiny” of the USA was — let’s face it — a gospel supremacy claim.
Attempts for one of these parties to deny the other (and we’ve seen it happen in minority movements) are asking for beatdowns from heaven.
Happily, after 8 years of waffling under Barack Obama, the question of the official view of Israel from the USA is going to be very, very clear. This can’t even be attributed to Donald Trump’s churching. That’s Presbyterian with their “replacement theology” which is some theological legerdemain that would elbow the Jewish story right out of history’s picture. Just one of a number of reasons why Trump didn’t even vet his vision with his church. It was way too large for it.
We could move our French embassy to Tel Aviv, and our Israeli embassy to Jerusalem.
They can’t leave the Obama Tantrum behind.
Just remember, the French have millions of firearms in a big warehouse; that have only been dropped once.

Anyhow, Islam has forever been giving grief to Israel, or its remnants, ever since its founding.
It got bad enough for Christians wanting to pilgrimage to the holy sites of Christendom that we got a little thing called the Crusades.
France might have been on board with that once upon a time, but its revolution also left it largely atheist. We shouldn’t really expect anything else out of atheists under the thumb of mistheists (i.e. Islam).
