Army 75th Ranger Regiment to get its first female
Stars & Stripes ^ | 1/19/17 | DIANNA CAHN

Posted on 01/19/2017 1:21:58 PM PST by markomalley

A female soldier has become the first to pass the selection course for the exclusive Army 75th Ranger Regiment and will become the first female special operator in the military sometime in the spring, a spokesman for the unit said.

The female soldier graduated the regiment’s Ranger Assessment and Selection Program 2 in December after completing the 21-day course for officers and noncommissioned officers in the rank of staff sergeant and above, Lt. Col. Rob Bockholt said.

The Army will not release any identifying information about the soldier in keeping with its security policy for all its rangers, Bockholt said.

The 75th Ranger Regiment is the Army’s premier special operations raid force, conducting “large scale joint forcible entry operations” and small surgical raids — inserting quietly into areas around the globe to capture or kill high-value targets. The work is physically and psychologically demanding, requiring specialized fitness and training skills.

The course for leadership-level soldiers and officers, known as RASP 2, lasts three weeks. Among the requirements to pass the course, soldiers must:

• Pass the Ranger fitness test, which includes 58 push-ups, 69 sit-ups, six pull-ups and running 5 miles in 40 minutes or less.

• Pass a water survival assessment.

• Participate in a 12-mile march with a 35-pound rucksack and weapon in less than three hours.

• Undergo a mental evaluation.

According to information provided by the Army in October, two women had attempted to pass the regiment selection course but failed. Two others were at the time scheduled to attend the training.

The Army would not release any other details, but the website for veterans Task & Purpose, which was first to report the story, said the soldier is an officer.

Since the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, the Ranger regiment has had members continually deployed around the globe.

To date, three women have graduated the Army’s Ranger School, a grueling course that earns soldiers a Ranger tab. Soldiers who graduate Army Ranger school return to their conventional units and the training is separate from the 75th Ranger Regiment training.

Like other special operations occupations, Ranger positions were off-limits to women until December 2015, when Secretary of Defense Ash Carter announced all occupations would be open to women.

The Marines had requested an exemption for some of its infantry occupations but, ultimately, Carter rejected any exclusions to the policy.

The 75th Ranger Regiment comprises three regular battalions and a special troops battalion. Two of the battalions are based in Georgia at Hunter Army Airfield and the regiment’s headquarters in Fort Benning, and one at Joint Base Lewis-McChord in Washington.

Bockholt said the female soldier will arrive at the new unit in a couple of months.

Please note this is NOT the same course taken by REAL Ranger applicants which is about 3 times longer and 50 times more rigorous.

No, Ranger school is a regular Army school run by Tradoc and not necessary to enter into Ranger Regt. RASP1 and RASP2 are selection courses to be accepted into the Regt. Most NCO’s and Officers applying for Regt need to be Ranger qualified(meaning a graduate of Ranger School) before beins assigned to one of the Battalions. However, support MOS’s don’t necessarily need to be a graduate of Ranger School. Most of your line troops are young infantry privates just out of basic, then jump school before attending RASP (in my day it was RIP) and upon successful graduation of RASP, they are assigned to one of the Battalions. If they remain in Regt, after a time they will be sent to Ranger school to earn their Ranger tab. As we used to say back in the day, the tab is a school, the scroll (unit patch) is a way of life. Read someplace that she is support officer, so my guess an supply, admin, intell officer that we be assigened to HHC or to the support company in on of the BN’s or even Regt HQ. Just my 2 cents, but personnaly I do not believe she should have been allowed to attend RASP. It’s a alpha male world, that has no use for token PC chicks.

And as with all others who have attempted it, I am sure they got extra training, special breaks, second chances, and were told by top brass its important these women make it.

I know some may be impressed with this. Those are not very good physical standards. I have to believe they have been lowered over the years likely in recent times under Obama, and it is his last day as we know.

Below is the essay I am going to send to Congress and the president annually until the day I die

Ash Carter’s announcement December of 2015 about women in combat demonstrated the Obama Administration attachment to a political ideology fueled by arrogance and premeditated ignorance. Carter’s supposed direction of any long period of study and vigorous debate sought only those mutually supportive creatures that have metastasized throughout the military to serve a social agenda bringing future needless devastation.

Most of the points I highlight about women in combat arose first when the decision was made to do away with DADT, and invite the LGBT community into the mainstream of military operations. In the case of DADT, the religious fervor driving a delusional Congress and Administration sought comfort from a fallacious study conclusion showing purport for their decision, when in the fact trigger pullers at the core of military operations rejected the idea.

Neither decision is compatible with combat operations that too often demand unpredictable and unimaginable endurance and brutality to achieve victory. Only the highest physical abilities and most severe restrictions on human behaviors and interactions can foster the required high morale, good order and discipline, and unit cohesion required. Resorting to war for national defense entails the ultimate Olympics of conflict occurring at the bleeding edge of existence where the unbelievable must become the possible.

Human sexuality, and therefore LGBT behavior and women, simply cannot intrude into this sub-culture where only those displaying the greatest savagely can hope to win. Particularly regarding women, national defense compels the highest in physical achievement where no excuse exists for merging men and women into war environments more severe than any found in the Olympic competitions every four years.

Combat forms personnel into rigid, task oriented units. They then descend into a squalid cacophony of shrieking, cursing, sobbing, crashing dissonance to orchestrate the killing of other humans without hate or joy. These people continuously face extraordinary mental and physical stress, and survive by acquiring the wisdom of wild animals that live in the moment without schedules for eating and sleeping. At the point of collision, they undertake operations requiring sacrificial, primitive, and intimate actions. They must display a noble fidelity to each other despite environments that are inherently chaotic, barbaric, and brittle. Overcoming this alternate reality requires trained killers subject to a totalitarian leadership and narrow focus unimaginable for those who see any opportunity for the social alchemy popular in civilian life.

The regimental combat teams for infantry, mechanized, and armored units are now the playthings of bureaucrats committed to equal opportunity and affirmative action. They are dismissive of warriors enduring the carnage imperative for triumph. Institutional memories no longer exist for fighting ferocious, shrewd enemies such as the Germans, Japanese, Chinese, and North Vietnamese, who utilized a full array of modern weapons. If one notes the ribbons on any senior officer’s uniform, they show they fought only Arabs the Israelis beat three times at 20 to 1 odds.

Such people now question the necessity for standards which do not obfuscate inferior female physical performance or the psychological degradation of units forced to incorporate LGBT and feminist agendas. Social engineering that amalgamates these agendas has become the overarching imperative to which all operational capabilities must submit.

Women can serve in many rolls, but do not belong at the pointy end of the spear, and should not be holding it to the extent they intrude into the fellowship of combat arms, which depends upon savagery and physical strength for victory. LGBT behaviors simply have no place in our military where sexual extravagance breaks down unit cohesion. As this tragedy unfolds I will remember the quote that, “Men sleep peacefully in their beds at night because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf”.

A lot of good men are going to have to die in years to come to cover up the abandonment of the military as the ultimate meritocracy. This tragedy of women in combat following endorsement of LGBT behaviors provides another reason I now always council men to never enter the armed forces

General Martin E. Dempsey
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Martin_Dempsey
Notice from the ribbons on his uniform that General Dempsey, never fought the enemies mentioned, and now questions the necessity of current high standards which already allow inferior female performance?

Be sure to check out the photo of Secretary of the Navy Ray Mabus. He looks to me like someone who should be holding personnel seminars at Health and Human Services. I would not want to have anything to do with the gooey product resulting from the fulfillment of his vision. I think it is time to retire the service dress blues for a mauve uniform with a pink stripe and fashionable French berets. Considering the defense secretary claimed a long period of study and vigorous debate, I maintain discussion was among those mutually supportive creatures that have metastasized throughout the military to serve the LGBT and feminist social agendas. Most of the points I highlight below about women in combat first arose when the decision was imposed to do away with DADT. A lot of good men are going to have to die in years to come to cover up this needless disaster.

Unless things have changed, any Ranger NCO will have completed Ranger School (the real course), and I'd bet quite a lot that they would be the first to call this whole dog and pony show for what it is: bullsh!t
