California Could Cut Off Feds In Response To Trump Threats

SAN FRANCISCO (KPIX 5) – The state of California is studying ways to suspend financial transfers to Washington after the Trump administration threatened to withhold federal money from sanctuary cities, KPIX 5 has learned.

Officials are looking for money that flows through Sacramento to the federal government that could be used to offset the potential loss of billions of dollars’ worth of federal funds if President Trump makes good on his threat to punish cities and states that don’t cooperate with federal agents’ requests to turn over undocumented immigrants, a senior government source in Sacramento said.

Bring it. California will lose in a huge way when other states refuse to deal with them in response to their lawlessness. And state officials will be looking at federal crimes.

My whole life, people I’ve met from California have been a bit “off”, ranging from a little eccentric to full-blown loonies. This latest maneuver by California reinforces my previous opinion of California as a land of loons. By what authority do they think they can withhold monies due the Federal government?

We can only hope they do it. This would give some new US Attorneys a chance to be creative. There is a lot of wiggle room in Title 18 of the United States Code.

My wife told me her lawyer once got a hysterical phone call from a farmer client saying that the FBI had just arrested him on fraud on the federal government charges arising from his claim for agricultural price supports.

Individuals and businesses pay the feds, not the states.

Let me ask you a query....

WHEN YOU PAY FEDERAL INCOME TAX, WHERE DO YOUR EMPLOYER/S AND/OR YOU SEND THE CHECK?

Al Sharpton has had some success in keeping money from the Feds for about 8 years now.

I would love to see the picture of Jerry Brown in cuffs and stripes. He so deserves it.

The President has stated that he will withhold no money required by law that must be given to California. It’s discretionary money he will withhold.
Conversely, I can’t think of any instance where money sent from states to the Feds is discretionary.

To say California isn’t benefiting from tremendous Defense spending?

LOL!!!

I don’t know much about this, but I am guessing CA receives far more from the feds than the state gives to the US government.

States that send more money to the federal government than they receive, could suspend payments to the Feds.

While I could be wrong, I'm thinking that the vast majority of money sent to the feds from any state is from private businesses. They pay their withholding and social security deductions from their payroll directly to the feds. That money doesn't go through Sacramento.

.My check is made out to the IRS. They frown if it’s not sent.
The Feds shut down businesses that fail to send in tax withholdings, and prosecute when it’s not done.

I keep posting variations of this to this and other threads on the topic, but it STILL isn’t getting through to far too many here.

Will not happen, but if they tried it and Trump cut off fed and military contract funding to aerospace and high tech companies, watch how fast the liberals fold up.

I send mine to San Francisco. Maybe the IRS should move to Phoenix? ‘Cause by the time they get to Phoenix she’ll be rising. ;-)

It's amazing how far the liberals will go to protect non citizens. President Trump might have to arrest a few of these scumbags for treason.
