exactly. We can give the money back to the states without the DOE. That’s the deal. I hope he does this

Could that be the plan all along?

Nominate two or three candidates (of increasingly higher caliber) who support school choice, vouchers, and all the things the unions hate, knowing they won’t be approved... then declare Dept. of Ed. a lost cause and announce that he’s going to burn the whole thing down.

I’m strangely OK with that kind of 3D chess.
