President Trump’s pick for education secretary cleared a major Senate hurdle in an unusual early morning vote Friday, clearing the way for her likely confirmation next week.

The 6:30 a.m. procedural vote will end the ongoing — and increasingly contentious — debate over DeVos, who has ignited a fierce backlash from Democrats and even some Republicans.

Republicans will need 51 votes to clear the hurdle, which Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) is confident he has.

I heard on FOX this morning that the votes are split 50-50 and GOP will need VP Pence's vote to break the tie.

I was sitting smug here in Kansas until my uber lib nephew (whom I do love - who wouldn’t love a red headed 6’3” young man with a mild lisp.) anyway, he thinks Moran can be rolled. If you’re a Kansas freeper, email him from his website. Evidently his phones mailbox is full.

Why does Graham, McCain, Rubio and a number of other Republican Party members get campaign money from Soros?

The answer? They are utterly corrupted. Putin himself could go and offer each of them $100,000 for campaign money and they’d accept that as well.

Good to know after everything Trump has done for the Republican party, they pay him back by not voting for his nominee ;)

Vlad is far more pro-American than Soros.

Because they are RINO not-so-secret agents.

Liberal heads are going to explode, LOL! I know a couple “for the children”, “pro education” liberals who will lose their minds if she is confirmed. It’s going to fun to watch.

Devos is one of the most important cabinet members. Its very important that she gets in. The teachers union needs to be destroyed if we want education again in America.

Get rid of the mandated lunch program, too.

Absolutely no reason for Feds to be involved in the STATE school systems.

And plow up Michelle's garden. Some farmer could use the money instead of $50 an hour gardeners....and for security reasons. It's the 21st century. Get over it.

If education is lost - all is lost.
Watching the uneducated this past week one can only pray DeVoss will make a difference in our Education System. Get federal government out of school, along with union and bad food. After cleaning house, bring back to school God and prayer, American history and civics. The system must change if this nation wishes to continue.

I think that’s the 51 votes - 50 Senators + Pence. It’s a razor thin margin.
