THE GREAT AMERICAN SONGBOOK
COLE PORTER
DuBARRY WAS A LADY
JUDY GARLAND: DO I LOVE YOU?Before Streisand, there was Garland. Her TV show on NBC didnt last very long, which is a shame because she put everything she had into it. There are a number of classic videos rescued from that show that illustrate just what she could do with a song. She gives it a jazzy Latin Big Band edge that puts it in a whole new light.

Dang, another snowstorm? Hope it’s the last one you have to deal with but the way this winter’s gone so far .....
No snow here but it’s cold with a breeze that adds an extra bite to it. We’ll warm up again in a couple of days though. Can’t seem to get off the weather roller coaster.
The new kittehs are finally settling in. The kittens adjusted pretty quickly but poor Lessa is still a bit nervous around the others. At least she isn’t hiding this evening. She and Arabell are asleep in a chair and the two boys are sleeping in another. Quiet for now but they’ll all wake up soon, then it’s get outta da way! LOL

Good evening, Maestro - Thanks for the Judy Garland rendition. She has been one of my faves since I was just out of my nappies.

LOL! Water will do it! Bummer it happened to you. :-(
No, the kitties weren’t a drop-off, at least not here. The momma was dumped at Hubby’s cousin’s farm next door and had three kittens shortly afterwards. His wife took care of them but she passed away two weeks ago and he didn’t want them any more. Sooooooooo, they’re here now.

THE GREAT AMERICAN SONGBOOK
COLE PORTER
DuBARRY WAS A LADY
CAROL BURNETT: GIVE HIM THE OOH-LA-LAEven before Carol made her big TV splash with Gary Moore on CBS, she was known off-Broadway for her hilarious performance in Once Upon a Mattress.
In the days before PBS, there was a Sunday afternoon TV show called Omnibus hosted by Alistair Cooke. This is a rare video from 1956 showing Carol performing this tune on the show.

“Bert Lahr”
Bert Lahr was the first supposedly big-name, famous person to agree to do a commercial which happened to be the Lay’s potato chip commercial.
He later said that the pay for doing that commercial was more than he had made in his entire life in show business.
