Heard on the radio this morning that the only reason the two Republican harpies don't like her is because they get LOTS of $$$ from the teacher's unions.
It is all the Teacher Union monopoly of Public Schools is at risk.
If Charter Schools & School Choice allow the Fed dollars to follow the student and not the school would create competition and Public School loses
In Netherlands, you got a stipend from the Govt to educate your child. You shopped for the school. If you wanted Premium, you paid the difference. Schools competed for students and had to show results with Test Scores, placements to next level up etc.
We spend more money per kid than anywhere, yet our schools do not do near as well as they should or did in the 1960-1970s.
This school choice idea will blow up the locked in status quo and teacher union mega-Dem-Donor. Hence why Devos is not acceptable to many.

Actually, I believe that’s part of it, but the Dems are also beholden to the teachers unions, and teachers unions are against school choice and Devos is a big supporter of school choice. Never mind that school choice offers the poorest students in failing public schools the opportunity to escape and actually get an education. As far as the teachers unions and Dems are concerned, it’s about money and influence and to hell with the children.
Yes, and DeVoss is the only Trump nominee they thought they had a hope of picking off...plus she's white...and a woman who is not a liberal...and she's pro-life...and attractive...and makes a case for non-public schools...and is not a public school teacher...and is a threat to the teachers unions...and is an evangelical Christian...and the Dems have come tantalizingly close to derailing her...

Actually, she is one of the wealthiest members of the cabinet. They hate wealthy Republicans
