Speaking to a conference crowd of local law enforcement officers and leaders in Washington Wednesday, President Trump slammed the courts for what he perceives as lawyering of straight forward immigration law the White House is using to justify his recent travel ban.
Standing at the lectern, Trump read aloud title eight, chapter 12 of U.S. Code which states: "Whenever the President finds that the entry of any aliens or of any class of aliens into the United States would be detrimental to the interests of the United States, he may by proclamation, and for such period as he shall deem necessary, suspend the entry of all aliens or any class of aliens as immigrants or non-immigrants, or impose on entry of aliens any restrictions may deem to be appropriate."

So he should ignore the courts and do what he wants? No doubt, the Dems and the MSM would make it into a Constitutional crisis. Impeachment would be the mantra.

Trump is not a lawyer but he was clear about the law.

The fact that ANY court is questioning the President’s right to create a simple rule regarding foreign nationals entering the USA is PURE POLITICS — and extremely dangerous.
As Trump pointed out - If a President has this power removed by the Courts then Constitution means nothing, and we are a lawless society.
As has been noted elsewhere, if the courts uphold this garbage, then Trump should withdraw that EO, make this case moot, and then issue a new EO with slightly different wording.
I love that he is fighting this.

It isn’t a matter of ignoring the courts, or the law. As Trump stated, he has every right to do his job as it is written. If you are going to let any fed judge in the country parse words, then the President may as well be the f’n Queen of England.
A “thanks but not thanks” would have been fine, and a second attempt should have been threatened with imprisonment for sedition. Remember, the “left hates us”....if we cannot get that through our thick skulls, we’re done for.
Where are the Republican lawmakers??? Why aren’t they out in front of the cameras looks Schumer/Warren?? Why aren’t they reading this law?? COWARDS!!!!

Exactly right, and the problem now....Trump blinked. Now the left is massively emboldened.
Remember, the Californians have threatened to block the “Wall” by legal tactics.
Trump should have just laughed at them and carried on punching them in the face. Yeah, the media would have screamed bloody murder....for a day or two.... but in order to keep up with Trump they have to change their “outrage” every day.
There is only one other thing that I can think of, that would invalidate what I feel. And that would be that Trump has “set up” the court system for a massive and embarrassing failure, so he doesn’t need to ever deal with the courts like this again. I certainly hope this is the case, because otherwise I’m afraid I’ve given Trump too much credit til now.
Did the Justice dept attorney utilize this in his oral arguments?
Yes. And I’d keep doing that til the cows came home. Every time one reached any court I’d pull it and issue another one. Let them waste their time and money.
