The top Democrat on the House Oversight Committee wants the committee to look into potential disciplinary action against Kellyanne Conway for plugging Ivanka Trump‘s brand on Fox News this morning.
After President Trump raised ethical questions with his tweet about Nordstrom yesterday, Conway repeatedly encouraged Fox viewers this morning to go purchase goods from the company run by the president’s daughter.
Elijah Cummings, ranking member on the House Oversight Committee, sent a letter to committee chair Jason Chaffetz calling Conway’s remarks “a textbook violation of government ethics laws and regulations enacted to prevent the abuse of an employee’s government position.”
He calls Conway’s breach of ethics rules “jaw-dropping” and wants the committee to take action:
Since the Committee has direct jurisdiction over the ethics laws applicable to White House employees, I request that the Committee make an official referral of this matter to the Office of Government Ethics and request that it report back to the Committee as soon as possible with its findings.
For the record, Chaffetz was asked about Trump’s Nordstrom tweet yesterday and said he didn’t see the big deal about it.
Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington has already filed an ethics complaint against Conway.
Oh for gawd’s sakes . . . the Dims have a cow over this and ignore all of hilLIAR’s et al transgressions

Last I heard, KellyAnne is NOT an elected or appointed official of the government...She is a private civilian working for Trump...not the government...

Actually, normally I’d have a problem with what she said as well. But in this case the brand IS the story. She was making a political statement. It would be like telling people to buy Chick-Fil-A after the brand’s leader made those comments.

I’ll save the House Oversight Committee a lot of time and trouble. I’ve conducted an independent investigation of Kellyanne Conway’s alleged “breach of ethics” and have reached the following conclusions: 1) Elijah Cummings is a complete and utterly worthless POS and 2) buy Ivanka Trump’s brand of clothing.
We want our president and his staff to promote products that are Made in America.
That’s it, Trump is finished!
