A Kenyan girl was denied entry into the United States a day after courts barred President Donald Trump from deporting immigrants.
Ednah Chepkoton, 25, was held at Chicago's O'Hare International Airport for many hours after getting off a United Airlines flight on February 4.
She had been given a five-year multiple entry visa by the US embassy in Nairobi on January 20.
Ednah, a Kabianga university nursing graduate, narrated her harrowing experience to the Star from the airport, after an immigration officer singled her out of thousands of passengers who were on transit.
"We landed at around 9.30 am but when I was clearing with customs an immigration officer called me aside and started questioning me," she said.

Kenya wasn’t one of the 7 nations listed in the temporary ban
Having nursing degree doesn’t preclude a terrorist threat. Many terrorist were middle class with advanced degrees.
ACLU is defending case. She isn’t even a citizen and can’t be accorded constitutional rights that a US citizen has.
The customs and border agents are probably using enhanced screening measure that they are legally able to employ at their discretion under existing law.
Dems and commie judges will own any terror attack.
TSA detains hundreds of people every day from around the world. Including Kenya.
Fake news propaganda.
So the 'girl' is a liar, or the author of this hit piece is a liar, or both.
In the comments of the article, there were a number of commenters who indicated that the problem was that she was on a one-month "vacation" visa but was packing her education documents, thus indicating that she was probably was planning on overstaying her visa to either get a job, using the education documents as part of her resume, or was going to try to get enrolled in some form of educational/training school. That is something that would have red-flagged her for any trained immigration officer.
When they accessed her cellphone, there may also have been something there that disclosed that she was planning on staying longer than her one-month visa.
This proves the point, yet again...
THE MEDIA IS THE ENEMY.
She was from Kenya, not on Trumps list. Contradicting answers. TSA DID ITS JOB.
25 year old...girl? Makes me wonder at what age does a girl become eligible to be described by the press as a woman?
Foreign press does it all the time, but in American press it would be grounds for dismissal...........
Oh, my! How “harrowing.” I’m sure the trauma tempted her to return to Kenya for nursing school at the University of Nairobi Nursing and Straw-weaving Program.
Yep, when new laws/EO’s are implemented, unforeseen incidents occur...Funny how for the last 8 years we never heard about the casualties of Obama’s laws/directives.
Girl? She was 25 years old.
She wasn’t from one of the 7 countries, so this had nothing to do with Trump’s order.
It’s always been common for the INS to turn away women who they suspect of coming to the US to practice prostitution.
More Fake News.
I have traveled a lot ..but not recently.
Many times I have been asked,, why are you here..where are you staying..how are you supporting yourself..how long are you staying..etc.
You hit on the key here. Having those papers put them on alert. Something might have been on that phone.
Kenya is not one of the 7 countries involved in the Trump ban.Fake news here.
You'd be looking for a new job.
Really? Multiple reentry visas are very common for business travellers. I have a couple from foreign countries in my passport book. A college/grad student would be another logical candidate. I'm not saying that this young lady should not have been challenged. In this case, the U.S. immigration officer may have made a perfectly sensible judgment call based on other factors. But a multiple reentry visa is a routine thing. It's silly to force someone who has already been vetted and who flies back and forth frequently to jump through bureaucratic hoops each time. (We want foreign visitors to come here and spend their money.) If something in a person's profile makes them a risk for overstaying, that's a different matter to be adjudicated on a case-by-case basis.
Actually, her B.S. was in Environmental Studies... not that this makes much difference.
I would like to hear "the other side" of this story....
Actually, from studies put forth and my experience in this area especially in regards to brain formation, they are borderline, the same.
“Kenya isnt one of the 7 countries on the list, so who knows what the real issue may have been with this person... if there really was an issue at all.”
The fact that Kenya isn’t one of the countries included in the EO makes this article more ‘FAKE NEWS’ by the MSM. They don’t even bother anymore to even try to make their articles defendable.
A 25 year old grad student is not a girl.
Nice try, fake presstitutes.
Harrowing? Harrowing? You gotta be kidding me. My SIL endured hours of interrogation year after year in the airport, in spite of his green card and being from one of our safest and greatest allies in Latin America. Shrug it off, Ednah.
