Trump should have just mentioned the states that he won, and how he lost MN by a small margin. He should know himself that Obama and Bush SR got more Electoral Votes than he did. They’re going to go after all of his statements, so he shouldn’t give them any factual errors.

When was the last time you saw any member of the House or Senate speaking out to defend a Republican president? Your idea failed then and it would fail worse today.
