Pardon my ignorance, perhaps someone can explain to me what a “Deep state” is......

I've heard it also called the shadow government if that helps.

John McCain and Lindsey Graham are the shadow government, or so they think. Deep State is more hidden and covert. Both are equally insidious in their nefarious endeavors.
